How would a dog wear pants? The burning question that for once, I actually have an answer to.
Before we begin, id like to go over some terminology so everyone is on the same page. Ive provided some helpful diagrams for reference.
Back legs: legs closest to the tail and but
Front legs: legs closest to the head
2 legged pants: first way a dog may wear pants, the pants would cover the but, go around the tail, and cover only the back legs
4 legged pants: second way a dog may wear pants, the pants would cover all 4 legs, and the stomach, stopping below the neck and tail.
This whole debate stems from the fact that dogs are not built like humans, and therefore would have to wear pants somewhat differently. I could leave it at this and say dogs dont wear pants, but that would be mean.
At first glance, 4 legged pants make the most sense. Pants cover all legs and nothing more. Nothing more. So why does it cover the dog’s stomach???? Wrong.
So it has to be two legged pants right? I mean, it covers the but (like human pants) and if the dog stood up on its back legs (like a human) it would look like human pants. Case closed?
Well, my friend, I present to you: Gravity.
How would 4 legged pants stay up????? Are they wearing a belt? But still, would that even hold?!?!?
Plus, if a dog wore 4 legged pants, how would they wear a shirt??!?!?! Would it just be a piece of fabric draped over their back?!?!?!
For these reasons, readers, I have actually made a decision that dogs would wear 2 legged pants.
Also thats how pet smart sells pants at halloween.
