New To York?

Hey York!!

My name is Kumkum and my first year at The York School was in 2017. I previously lived in Dubai, UAE, so moving to Toronto was pretty new and exciting. 

My family moves a lot so York was my 3rd or 4th school, so I’ve pretty much experienced all kinds of transitions, but transitioning into The York School was significantly easier than I thought. The reason being is because of the people. Every single person, whether it be a student or teacher, always found a way to make me feel welcome and settled in.

If you are new to york, don’t worry - the York School community is close; we care about each other and genuinely want everyone to have a great school experience. My main piece of advice would be to just be yourself. It’s what we encourage and that's what makes our community so great!!
