As we are now well into school, homework is coming in thick and fast. Here are my top tips on how to stay on top of your homework this year.
1.Make sure you have a place to write down all your homework.
It is important to know all of your homework, when it is due and what is expected of you. The best way to do so is to find a system that works best for you. You can use the tasks feature on Google Calendar, set reminders on your phone, make your checklist or make sure you are constantly checking Blackboard.
2. Have specific time slots to do certain tasks.
If you have a busy after-school schedule and are finding it difficult to juggle extracurriculars with your homework, try and make yourself a schedule. Notice what extracurricular activities you have, what tests are approaching that you have to study for and what homework is due. The best way to make your schedule is by using Google Calendar to organize your time.
3. Find a place where you can focus
So many times when we sit down to do work we are often distracted by our phones, people and items around us. Try to find a quiet space where there are minimal to no distractions that will cause you to lose focus. Additionally, do not bring your phone with you. For many of us, phones are our biggest distractions. Leave it somewhere else, or make sure that it is put away so you do not see it and are not tempted to look at it.
4. Take breaks.
After you work hard on completing some of your homework, reward yourself. Go for a 10-15 minute break, stretch your legs, get a snack and be proud of what you have accomplished. Try to get outside and take in some fresh air to clear your mind before getting back to work. Stay positive and you will get it all done!
