ski for change service opportunity

11/19/2022

calling all skiers and those in need of community service hours or experiences (Ossd & cas) !

A grade 12 student from Toronto Prep School, Ellery Aziz, is the Founder of the Ski for Change Initiative.

Ski for Change is partnered with the volunteer-powered charity Ontario Track3 Adaptive Sports Association, an organization that teaches disabled children snow-sports. They are looking to recruit high school student volunteers from schools across Toronto to teach with Track3.

The Ski for Change team is hoping that York can help them with the goal of gaining 60+ new volunteer instructors this season. Even one or two students signing up from our school would help them greatly as there are already over 130 disabled children on the waiting list for Track3.

It is very easy to be a volunteer. Students just need a background in skiing and/or snowboarding and a reference. There are no outside certifications required, all training is provided by Track 3.

To be a volunteer, you must be 15 years old or above.

You can find more information about the organization at www.skiforchange.ca

Please let Ellery know as soon as possible if you would like to be involved with this initiative by contacting them at skiforchange22@gmail.com
