This is just going to be a quick announcement for all my music lovers out there, or people who just want to hear about their favourite artists/charity.
War Child, a charity that provides aid to all children on both sides of wars all around the world, is known for its great contributions to child safety and public advertising/events. In 1995 they released an album titled HELP, a collaborative project recorded in one day in London. HELP featured contributions by Paul McCartney, Oasis, Sinead O’Connor and an original Radiohead song, “Lucky,” for any fans who may know it from their 1997 studio album OK Computer.
This year, on March 6th, the sequel album is set to be released. Titled HELP(2), it was recorded in one week at Abbey Road Studios in London and was produced by James Ford. The first single, “Opening Night” by the Arctic Monkeys, was released this month and has garnered positive reviews.
So many artists are set to feature on this new album, including Olivia Rodrigo (doing a cover of “The Book of Love” by Peter Gabriel), Beabadoobee, Pulp and Cameron Winter. It’s kind of like the new “Young Artists for Haiti,” when all those Canadian artists covered “Wavin’ Flag,” or “Band-Aid.”
Also, a companion movie is set to be released featuring footage taken by kids in the studio freely while the artists were recording. Never before seen footage of your favorite musicians! It’s almost like buying Polaroids of the Spice Girls in the 90s.
Moral of the story, check out HELP(2) when it comes to streaming services near you this March. Thanks for reading, York!
