Every week many of us have the opportunity to step outside and eat lunch with our friends. While it’s always a pleasure to eat out, one question constantly emerges: “What should we get?” Fortunately, there are tons of places to grab food on Young Street. However, if you and your friends are craving burgers, there are only two options: Holy Chuck, and McDonald’s (I don’t count Hero Burger because who actually goes there). There are tons of things to consider when comparing the two. Let’s get into it.
Price:
McDonald’s takes a decisive victory here. A cheeseburger combo at McDonald’s costs around $15, while a burger alone costs $15+ at Holy Chuck. Things get even worse for Holy Chuck if you want to add sides, or worse still a milkshake, which alone is $10. Most times a meal at Holy Chuck will cost double a meal at McDonalds. Way to break the bank.
Taste:
While this is more of a subjective category, we can all agree that Holy Chuck tastes better, if not way better than McDonald’s. Their burgers are bigger, juicer, and fresher. Holy Chuck is so committed to making your burger tasty you’ll even be asked how you want it cooked. Meanwhile at McDonald’s, you’ll be lucky if your burger is lukewarm.
Experience:
Things get interesting now that the two most obvious categories have been talked about. When I say experience, I mean how being inside each restaurant makes you feel. Both Holy Chuck and McDonald’s are similar in this regard. They both have a pretty standard “burger place feel.” As for wait times, both take about the same amount of time for your food to arrive. However, Holy Chuck takes an edge, since you can actually dine in there, rather than have to get take-out like McDonald’s. This means that you have to take your food out into the cold while you walk back to school, which can be annoying. For that reason, Holy Chuck takes the win here.
To wrap things up, Holy Chuck is superior to McDonald’s. Yes it’s expensive, but think about this: Eating out is a special treat, so why not get food that’s equally special? Holy Chuck offers a chance for you to kick back with friends and eat a really good burger, which you’ll enjoy down to the last bite. After all, when it comes to burgers, sometimes it’s worth spending a little extra for an experience—and a taste—you won’t forget.
