AI will be used by bad actors for false identification
Sam Altman (CEO OpenAI): The thing that terrifies me is that apparently there are still financial institutions that will accept a voice print as authentication, for you to move a lot of money or do something else, you say a challenge phrace and they just do it. That is a crazy thing to still be doing. AI has fully defeated that. AI has fully defeated most of the ways that people authenticate currently, other than like passwords, but all of these fancy, you know, take a selfie and wave or do your voice or whatever... I am very nervous that we have an impending fraude crisis because of this. We have tried people to warn. Some bad actors are going to release this, it is not a very difficult thing to do. This is coming very, very soon. There are reports now of ransom attacks, where people have the voice of your kid or your parent and they make this urgent call. That is going to get so compelling. Society has to deal with this problem, more generally, but people have to change the way the interact, they have to change to way they verify, like this person who's calling me. Right now it's a voice call, soon it's going to be a video call or Facetime, indistinguishable from reality, and people teach how to authenticate in a world like that, To think about the fraud impact. It's a huge deal.
