Pregnant and Married Students

 

 

Marital, maternal, or paternal status shall not affect the rights and privileges of students to receive a public education nor to take part in any extracurricular activity offered by the school.

Pregnant students shall be permitted to continue in school in all instances. The school administration is authorized to make special arrangements for the instruction of pregnant students, including, but not limited to, release from school activities which place the expectant mother at risk; homebound instruction when sanctioned by the expectant mother's physician prior to the birth of the child; homebound instruction for a period of six weeks following the birth of the child (or longer if sanctioned by the student's physician due to the health of the mother); and state or federal programs which assist students with child care responsibilities following the birth of the child.
