The Clay County Board of Education shall strive to maintain an atmosphere in which all students can develop attitudes and skills for effective, cooperative living including:

 

a,) Respect for the individual;

 

b.) Respect for cultural differences;

 

c.) Respect for economic, political, and social rights of others, and;

 

d.) Respect for the rights of others to seek and maintain their own identities.

 

Educational opportunities and experiences shall be provided to students equitably and without discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, or handicap.

 

Students shall be protected from discrimination in the following areas:

 

Admission; counseling and guidance; competitive athletics; student benefits; treatment as a married and/or pregnant student; access to class enrollment; vocational education; graduation requirements; health services; access to school facilities; physical education; student rules and regulations; and extracurricular activities.

 

Students who believe they have been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin, or handicap may utilize Title IX grievance procedures and direct their grievances to the school district's Title IX coordinator.
