Tenure

Tenure

Since the State of West Virginia has made it mandatory that all new teachers be employed on probationary contracts, the Board of Education has adopted a policy that no tenure contract be granted to a new employee until said employee shall have held and taught under three probationary contracts, each of which has been granted for the period of one school year.

Before re-employment for a second or third year or for continuing contract, each probationary teacher shall have received from his/her principal, his/her supervisor, and from the assistant superintendent-in-charge, a recommendation of approval.

Tenure contracts may be awarded to all professional personnel who meet the above requirements.
