Arrangement for Substitutes

Arrangement for Substitutes

Principals of all schools are furnished an approved list of substitute teachers. The principal shall call a substitute teacher whose name appears on this list after receiving permission from the superintendent’s office. The regular teacher shall notify the principal on the day preceding his/her anticipated absence indicating number of days to be absent.

Teacher absences must be reported by the principal on the regular substitute report, even though a substitute teacher is not secured, unless the teacher is excused on school business.

The principal of each school shall have prepared for distribution to substitute teachers data relative to school hours, bell, schedules, checking attendance, lesson plans, seating arrangements, fire drills, special duties, and any other matters pertinent to the situation. Each teacher should also prepare and attach to his/her teacher’s register his/her class schedule and a general plan for handling the class periods.

The principal will report substitutions by: name, address, social security number, degree status and length of time of substitution – to the personnel department of the ventral office. For pay purposes, this information must be accurate.
