Contests for Students

Contests for Students

Principals are requested to use their discretion in determining which contests are to be permitted in their school and which ones are to be prohibited. Generally, the contests that are allowed should be voluntary. Only on rare occasions should the entire class be required to enter poster, writing, or speaking contests, and then only if it fits in with the class objectives and the teachers lesson plans. In the high schools, it is recommended that the principals follow the approved contest list prepared and circulated by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.
