With an exciting ending to this year's middle school track season. Fruita came in the 1 placement across the district. All the Fruita students showed outstanding growth throughout the season and put lots of hard work and effort into putting Fruita toward the top of the leaderboard.
If running isn't for you track has many other athletic fun field events, such as the long jump, triple jump, high jump, shot put, and discus. Mason Petree, an 8th-grade track athlete, says “ I like the track because it makes me more dedicated to doing better in my jumping events,”. The satisfaction of improving in an event that you have been working for all season is an unexplainable feeling. Jumping is a skill that has to be ripped for a long period to watch the progression. So making it farther every event should be a proud feeling.
Coaches are a huge part of all athletics especially at this age, to help encourage and support all kids to success. Coach Decker is just one of the amazing track coaches who has coached for 18 years and also coaches football at the highschool says that. “My favorite part of coaching track is getting to meet and interact with so many new kids. I really enjoy being outside and being active. For me, track was always fun because it is springtime, you are always trying to get a PR and it is a fun co-ed sport to do with your friends. I love when I see kids succeed and they have so much pride in themselves to see their growth.”.
Go say congrats to one of the middle school track athletes who have pushed themselves towards improvement even through all the crazy track weather. Thank all the track coaches who helped encourage our athletes to put Fruita in the 1st place.
