This November Fruita 8-9 will be concluding the 8th grade boys basketball season and starting the 8th grade girls basketball season. Many talented young teens will be going out for a team to represent the F8/9 athletics. Coaches are a huge part of any sport; they help kids ranging from toddlers up to adulthood grow and encourage them to stay active. A good coach could have a huge impact on a person and could change the way a person thinks not only about sports but about the way of life.

The A-team girl's basketball coach is Mrs.Willms, the librarian at the F8/9. She played basketball for 20 years and loves coaching boys' and girl's basketball. She insists that everyone should try basketball at some point in their life. She's very passionate and lots of kids from both the boys and girls basketball team love her greatly.

Easton Lopez says “She inspires me because she is always pushing and has us keep working to do our best”. Coach Willms is competitive and positive and will also be coaching track. Go stop by the library and congratulate her on the successful boy's basketball season and wish her luck for the girls.

The B team coach is Mr. Ray a teacher at the Fruita Monument High School, he coached boys' basketball and is thinking about coaching track if enough students sign up. According to A team player JJ Martinez, his favorite coach is Coach Ray because “ I feel like he's supportive and smart with plays and decisions and is an overall good coach,”. Coach Ray is very inspiring to many players on all teams and loves making basketball a positive experience for all.

One of the boy's basketball coaches is Ms.Semens a science and zoology teacher here at F89. She was the C1 coach for boys but will not be coaching for girls. She played throughout high school and is good with plays on the court.

Go congratulate or thank all the coaches for their hard work and effort to be able to create good functioning teams to represent Fruita 8/ 9. We look forward to seeing how the girl's basketball season goes, going to some games, and supporting our teams.
