Kwanzaa is a holiday celebrated by mostly African American cultures it starts on the 26th of December and ends on the 1st of January. It was created by Maulana Karenga. It reached its peak of popularity in 1980 through 1990 but is still semi-popular.
Most people have no clue what Kwanzaa is. It seems like it's not one of the traditional American holidays but still is celebrated. Some of the traditions for Kwanzaa include putting up the 7 candles and blowing them out one by one day by day. Also while this holiday goes on the families that do this love to prep and share food also love feastes. They also put one ear of corn for each child under the Kirana
Here is some things about what other students in the school have to say about what they know about Kwanzaa. Local 8th grader Emma Wastons says “I like Kwanzaa because I think celebrating clutter heritage is important.” Another 8th grader McKenna says “I think Kwanzaa is good because they get to celebrate what they want and celebrate their culture.”
