With the dismissal of the Fruita-89 staff, many students are sad to see them go. Numerous teachers have left a huge impact on kids from all different backgrounds, helping them get through the struggles that come along in their lives. It's an amazing thing when kids can have a teacher or staff member they will go to when something is going on in their lives.
Mrs. White has been teaching 8th grade ELA and Mythology for 3 years. Her favorite part about teaching ELA is teaching self-expression and empathy through writing and reading. She loves to see my students take pride in their creations! She enjoys mountain biking, hiking on the mesa, and floating the river.
Sometimes she struggles with the ideologies and theories of being a good teacher and what the reality of actually being a good teacher looks like. There's not enough time in the world to teach everything in a school year, so she has to balance what's important to her values, her student's interests, and what's required. Outside of school, She prioritizes a life of balance! For her, I have to be active and outside every day. She’s also learning to ski this winter, which has been a wonderful challenge!
She loves nature and teaching, She likes being a role model and she is just one of the favorite teachers here at the 89 who has left students with lessons, memories, and knowledge. Look forward to the upcoming issue or some of the other articles where we will feature more of your favorite teachers.
