In every school, everyone will always say that class periods are too long just because they don't like being at school. With that being said, there are legitimate reasons as to why we should have shortened class periods.
Kids from every group in the school would agree with this. Samuel Graves, a freshman at Fruita 8/9 says, “These class periods are way too long, I could get all of my work done in 20 minutes if the teachers would just explain it and not go on talking. Being at school for this long is a waste of my time.” I would have to agree with this statement. I usually get most of my work done very quickly and often don't even use all of the class time. I spend a lot of time on my phone because I finish quickly.
Even teachers from this school would agree with this opinion. Mrs.Gryniewicz A freshman teacher here at the 8/9 says, “Students should be able to do their school work and go on with their day. They shouldn't have to stay in the class if they are completely done with their schoolwork. They should be able to do other classwork once they finish what they are expected to do. I would have to agree with this because I can't count how many times I've had to sit in class doing nothing. After all, I'm already done and the teachers have nothing else planned.
One argument that people make is that people work at different paces, which I agree with. This is why you should just be able to leave class when you're done with your work and go to your next class. A freshman here, Dahlia DeLeon says “Depending on the class it varies how long I'm going to need, but I believe that just because I need more time doesn't mean everyone is going to need more time.”
With all of this said you can see that we should be able to spend the time we need on our assignments for each class as stated before. It feels like a complete waste of everyone's time to sit in class doing nothing.
