March Madness is starting soon, when it starts here is what you need to know. It is a 3 week plus long NCAA tournament for college basketball. It starts Sunday, March 17th 2024. It starts with 68 teams, then goes to 64 and 32, then it goes to the Sweet Sixteen, then the Elite Eight, then the Final Four, then finally the National Championship for all the madness.
I got some quotes from students around school and here is what they had to say. Miguel Pasillas said “I like to watch basketball, so it's fun to watch.I don’t have anyone specific I’m just watching it”. I used this quote because he says that he likes it but he doesn’t really like any specific teams but will still watch it. I got another quote from Joe Janda, he said “Yes, I’m going for Duke, I’m two days into college and I’m three lectures behind. I think it's very cool.”
March Madness ends around April 8th, 2024, that's when the championship is. When was March Madness made and who thought of it. The first D1 Men’s Basketball Tournament was played in 1939. It had 8 teams and it was Oregon who came out on top as the winner, beating Ohio State for the title. UCLA has the most National Championships with 11 while winning 7 in a row from 1967 to 1973. There have been 83 NCAA tournaments between 1939 and 2023, Kentucky has the most NCAA tournament appearances with 58 also winning 8 titles in the meantime.
If you do plan on watching March Madness this year, now you know where it came from and a couple of fun facts to tell your family while you are watching it. Now you know when it starts so you don’t miss any of it while it is happening. Hopefully, this helped you if you had any questions about it.
