Many people have noticed that temperatures have been dropping earlier than usual. The whole of October and at least half of November normally stay relatively warm. Many are asking; if the world is getting warmer, why is it getting so cold so early?
According to The Royal Society, ‘...an atmospheric circulation pattern known as the North Atlantic Oscillation has contributed to several recent cold winters in Europe, eastern North America, and Northern Asia.’
The North Atlantic Oscillation causes extremely high temperatures in the eastern United States and across Northern Europe. It also causes extremely low temperatures in Greenland, southern Europe, and the Middle East. This is believed to be one of the reasons why it’s getting so cold in parts of the U.S. so early.
What do you think? Do you think that the North Atlantic Oscillation could cause early low temperatures, or could it be something else?
