There is always going to be crime in any town you live in. However, In Fruita Colorado, you have a 1 in 430 chance of becoming a robbery victim in Fruita Colorado. That being said, that's less common than in other places. This is a significant topic to discuss because it's always changing as the crime rate changes with the population of that town.
Many students feel that Fruita is like a second home and they feel very safe in this town. Dahlia DeLeon, A freshman at Fruita 8/9 school says, “Fruita feels like a safe place to me, I feel like I can go outside and feel like I'm free to go anywhere without being bothered by anything, for one, I have never come in contact with any crime here in Fruita.” This is important because we must understand that some people may have different experiences in certain places.
Other people have different perspectives. Paige Stephens, another freshman from Fruita 8/9 says, “Sometimes Fruita doesn't feel like a very safe place to be, It feels a little unsafe to be outside by myself, I haven't been a victim of any crime in Fruita but I have had some family but I know someone else who has had stuff things stolen from them .” This is important because it tells us that something needs to change for everyone to feel safe in our community.
As the population gets larger and larger, the crime rate continues to get higher. If everyone does their part to keep the community safe we can continue to increase the safety of our town.
