Fruita 8/9 girls tennis officially started on February 27th, we have gotten more new girls this year than last year! This season goes all the way up to May, the coach is Mr. Davis, the Spanish teacher at the Fruita high school.
After asking F89 athletic director, Mrs. Daniels, some questions about tennis, this is her response: “Tennis is a good sport for new people, people who want to get out there, people who want to have a good time. The coaches and teammates are wonderful and we always get new people on the team. I recommend this sport to everyone who wants to get out there and try new things out.”
Freshman Macy Veek, who plays tennis, reports, “Tennis is very fun, it’s my first year and it's very welcoming, the team and the coaches just do it all , I would recommend this sport for everyone to at least try.”
Destiny Vargas, another freshman, states, “Tennis is fun, it is also my first year, I’d recommend this sport to people who want to try new things out and who aren't afraid to do new things.”
We hope to see Girls tennis do well this year! The first match was March 5th against Junction, they have one coming up March 7th against Denver East Scrimmage. Go Fruita!
