The fantasy series called Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo is about six teenagers who have to go on an “impossible” heist to save a scientist who created something called Jurda Parem. Six of Crows kept me on my toes personally and made me go through an emotional rollercoaster because of the many different plot twists.

As I was reading this book the different emotions that went through me were crazy because they all had different backstories that had no need for being so sad. When interviewed, Tori Bade, an 8th grader at Fruita 8/9 said, “The fact that there are so many different plots it’s actually hard to keep up and it continuously keeps you on your toes. I would change the fact that they all have extremely sad back stories and make them be happy since they aren’t 100% happy at the end.” Tori has a point with the sad back stories because the kids have to deal with so much emotional trauma on top of the trauma that is developed throughout the story.

When reading this book I struggled to get into it and it did take a little bit longer to get into up until about 4 chapters in. (the chapters are really quick). When asked, Space Simm, an 8th grader at Fruita 8/9 said, “My favorite part of the book is when Nina becomes more powerful because it’s an interesting plot twist. I would change the fact that the first six chapters are so slow. They need to be faster because that’s when it gets more interesting and fast paced.” I would also agree with the fact that the book needs to be faster paced in the beginning of the book because it does not need to take this long to get to the point of the book.

In conclusion, I think that this book was amazing but some things could be improved by a lot, For example making it more fast paced and making some of the backstories less sad. I would recommend it to anyone who likes fantasy/action books.
