Teacher's Spotlight: Mrs. Burke

By: Elyce West

The dismissal of Fruita-8/9 staff has left students crushed. Many inspiring teachers, such as Tracey Burke, have impacted students' lives from diverse backgrounds. Burke, a science teacher, full-time mom, and soccer coach, stands out for her kind and caring nature, which helps students get through the struggles of their lives.

Mrs Burke is a hardworking individual who balances her professional and personal life with dedication and commitment. As a teacher, she shares her knowledge and skills with her students. As a mom, she's kind and cares for her child. As a soccer coach, she guides her daughter and helps her develop her athletic abilities. As a mother, it gives her a stronger ability to push her students to do their best.

Mrs. Burke reports, "I love teaching science because it's fun and everything is science. I've been teaching for 20 years and feel like I've found my niche. Understanding the challenges that a child faces at home is important. Outside of school, I'm a full-time mom and soccer coach for my daughter."

Payton Lamb is an eighth-grade student with a strong opinion about her favorite teacher, Mrs. Burke. According to Payton "Mrs. Burke is her favorite teacher because she always knows what to say in the right situation. She finds Mrs. Burke very kind and caring, and we enjoy listening to her funny stories. She is always telling us stories about her daughter or her husband and it always makes us laugh or giggle. She's always making someone's day.”

Mrs. Burke, we want to express my gratitude for being such a compassionate teacher. Your understanding and empathy towards each student, acknowledging their challenges, is truly commendable. It's rare to find teachers like you who truly care about their students' well-being. Thank you for creating a safe and supportive environment that allows students to thrive and overcome our obstacles.
