St.Patrick’s Day, why is it a holiday, who made it a holiday, what is it celebrated for? Who made St. Patrick’s Day? St. Patrick's Day was originally celebrated in Ireland with religious services and feasts in honor of St. Patrick, one of Ireland's patron saints. When Irish immigrants brought St. Patrick's Day traditions in the United States, the day evolved into a secular celebration of Irish culture. What is it celebrated for? St. Patrick's Day observes the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. The holiday has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, drinking and a whole lot of green so they don’t get pinched. The day commemorates Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrates the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. St. Patrick’s Day is a day celebrated by many and disliked by lots but what are the opinions of some people? A ninth grader said Dyllan Verderber ``I hate it, my dad pinches me, then beats me.” Another ninth grader Ethan Rollins said “I don’t like it, I don’t like getting pinched.''On St. Patrick's Day the normal is to pinch people not wearing green. They make a good point, who likes getting pinched? So will you be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this year? Many might and many won’t but if you do you, now know what you are celebrating that day. Even though this holiday is very different from most holidays it has lots of cultural significance to lots of people. I hope this helped if you had any questions.
