The Fruita Recreation Center is hosting a 3v3 tournament, on Saturday, April 6th, 2024. It starts at 9 am, and the ending depends on how long the games are. It is a first-round elimination and the winners get a prize each/together. You have to have at least 3 people but it is preferred to have 4 people so one can substitute.
Students from 6th through 12th grade can join, and there are prizes for first and second place. 9th grader Ethan Rollins said, “Oh we’re gonna win, my team is the best.” He and his team ended up winning, the prize was a ten-dollar gift card to Munchies per person. The last game was decided quickly with Ethan Rollins' team against Tucker Hegecokes with Ethans winning 26-6. The final two teams both worked very hard to get there but
9th grader Cade Bear a frequent basketball player around Friuita said, “Oh that's at the rec center? I’m on a different team, yes I’m very excited.” After a few more interviews I found out that the competition is mostly 7th and 8th graders competing for fun. That's what basketball is really about in these little tournaments, it's for fun. This one might be more competitive due to the fact that there is a prize for getting 1st and 2nd. But win or lose it will be a great experience
for all.
Hopefully, this helped you if you had any questions about the tournament. Will you be competing in the 3v3 tournament? If you are, you know where and when it is happening. If you are competing, good luck. The winners ended up being Ethan Rollins, Jorge Marquez Ortega, and me.
