Plenty of students here at the Fruita 8/9 have gone to the theaters and sat down to watch the 3-hour-long masterpiece Dune 2. The first Dune was more into world-building and introducing characters but perfectly set up for the second one. Dune 2 is quite hard to understand if you haven’t seen the first one but it's so good that honestly, it doesn't matter.
A freshman Kel Unrein at Fruita 8/9 enjoyed the cinematography in Dune 2, “The large scale of the desert in Dune 2 caught my eye especially when you think about the giant sandworms that dwell underneath the surface. Even though I haven’t seen the first one the pictures this movie painted for me were beautiful.” Even without the knowledge of the first movie you can see people think the cinematography is second to none.
Another freshman here at the Fruita 8/9 Cooper Skalla has great things to say about the writing in this film,” In my opinion, this movie reminds me of Star Wars, especially with how it portrays the main character, a prodigy that ends up turning more evil. The side characters hype up this character just for him to turn out differently than expected.” The character arcs in this movie are something special.
There are not many movies that can be so amazing even without context, but Dune 2 is one of them. The writing, cinematography, and emotion shown in this movie make it a complete masterpiece. If you have the time to sit through this 3-hour movie it will be worth it.
