The 9th grade track season has been going on ever since February and will be continuing until the end of the school year. The track team at the 8/9 has a great sense of teamwork and being able to be welcoming.
Parker Clarke, a 9th grader at the 8/9 says “The season is going really well, it's been exciting to get varsity opportunities as a freshman and the team has been so welcoming to me.” It's not just the team that welcomes in new freshmen but the coaches too. “My coach has helped me come so far this season and has really helped me see my full potential and knowing the times that I can run are faster than I think.” Mr.Husky who is the track coach ensures that his team is doing their best and getting a great score for every event.
The track team is more than a team, it's a family. Emily Gray, a 9th grader in track at the Fruita 8/9, is a part of the 100,200,4x100 sprint relay, and medley sprint relay. She shares how she feels about the track team, saying that she looks up to people on her team one of them being, “Nevah Steele, I admire her because she is extremely hard-working, even if she doesn’t want to be at practice or run in a meet she always has a good attitude and tries her best in everything. She is a senior at Fruita Monument High School and she is attending CMU and running track in college.” The track team is filled with successful students and pushes every teammate to do their best in school and their sport.
The last meet for the Fruita Monument High School track team is May 10th, & 11th 2024. Their state track meet is the following week, May 16th, 17th, and 18th 2024.
