Bus drivers are needed exponentially all around the world. Most of the bus driver shortage is due to COVID-19, declining wages, and they don’t want to be accountable for the kids.
“We are facing about 10 driver shortages right now,” said Roman Fulgenzi, and that’s just in district 51. These shortages are causing bus drivers to do multiple routes around areas they are going towards to help the district continue the routes.
A problem with the bus driver quitting is some parents are beginning to be concerned about their kids because their kids get put on the wrong bus and don’t get home and are later kicked off the bus because they haven't gotten home yet.
The bus drivers' pay decreased after the pandemic and the wage was $12.38. However, bus minimum wage has been raised to $18.50 an hour so it helps the district get more bus drivers, and hiring bus drivers is getting easier.
Overall, bus drivers are declining at a rapid pace, and things are getting out of hand. Have you ever experienced a bus driver shortage?
