I think we need more substitutes because the ones that are here a lot are overworked and sometimes they sub for different teachers on the same day. I think we need more substitute teachers just so the ones that are good and have been here for a while don’t get tired out and they don’t want to sub anymore.
The way I see it, they are overworked and they need a break. Sometimes I see the same substitute on the same day in 2 or 3 classes, and they only get paid for one teacher's work. There are also some teachers that only get asked to sub sometimes or on certain days, like when Mr. Sullivan is out for baseball practice, that is a couple Fridays in the spring. And some teachers rarely need substitutes like Mrs. Warriner, she only has a couple of substitute teachers per month.
Lots of people had very many opinions about substitute teachers and I got a few interviews with different people. 8th grader Jagger Palmer said, “My favorite substitute is definitely Mrs. Lebaron, she is cool and she is very chill, with students.”. 9th grader Ethan Rollins, “My favorite substitute is definitely Senor Hockett, he is a good teacher, he explains things very well, and writes everything down on the board.”
When I was interviewing people these were the two names that came up the most, Senor Hockett and Mrs. Lebaron, I chose these two quotes because they actually told me why they liked them and not just because they were cool, or nice to them. I think this is why we need more subs, our school has a little more than 6 or 7 subs, and those 2 teachers were the only two they could think about because they sub so much. This is why I think we need more subs and teachers should try to find different ones.
