Aurora's Class President has a bright--and blue!--future ahead

Senior Camryn Cohn will be attending The Pennsylvania State University, majoring in Biobehavioral Health.

This major is special to Penn State, factoring into Camryn’s big decision.

“I have always loved psychology and biology and this is the perfect degree that mixes them both and will allow me to enter the medical field,” Camryn says. Just from knowing Camryn, her being a part of the STEM field in the future will undoubtedly create so much goodness in the world.

Following her post-secondary education, Camryn notes that she sees herself “hopefully starting a family and raising my cats and dogs with my husband and working in the medical field.”

Wrapping it back around to her current life here in Aurora, she touches on the memories and people who made a huge impact on her life.

Firstly, she talks about the culture-defining football games.
She exclaims, “Senior year football season being up against the fence and making the spirit banners to hang in front of the student section for every game which ended up to be a really good season.” As the senior class president, she took on the role of the banners, something Camryn does a great job at, just as she does with all her other roles and responsibilities.

She then moves on to talk about a person who has influenced her throughout her years at Aurora.

“Mrs. Rorabaugh, a middle school health and physical education teacher, was my coach from 7th grade to freshman year at Aurora. She taught me more about life than just how to play a sport but instead, how to deal with the adversity you're gonna face along the way. Conversations I have had with her during that time in my life have always stuck with me to this day. She is full of really inspiring advice and has a lot of interesting stories that taught me a lot.”

On the topic of being a role model, Camryn has become one of them for AHS. Being someone who has done so much for Aurora and truly made her mark here, she is someone whose advice has so much merit.

For the underclassmen, she comments, “Do not follow the crowds or what other people are doing. If you are the only person who wants to take a certain class, join a club by yourself…Just push yourself to take risks because you never know where those risks will take you. The best advice I received was to get involved in clubs, sports, and school and lastly taking AP Bio because that class taught me study skills I still use today.”

Finally, Camryn quotes Drake, “Never let success get to your head and never let failure get to your heart.”

Camryn’s heart and mind are going to take her so far in life. Good luck to you, Camryn!
