Nate Fletcher is "running home" to the University of Rhode Island

Senior Nate Fletcher will be attending the University of Rhode Island as a baseball commit this coming fall, majoring in Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship. Before pitching his way to the ocean, Nate looks back on growing up in Aurora.

Baseball was an outlet for many memories and connections for Nate. He mentions one of his favorites would have to be “going to Cabana Bay with the baseball team my junior year.” Luckily for Nate, the baseball team will be heading there again this coming spring break, where I’m sure he will make many more new memories.

Transitioning more towards the academic side of his time at AHS, one staff member he would like to express his appreciation for would be Mrs. Halko.

“She made sure everything was in check and organized so that my schedule was the best it could be. She helped me whenever I needed it,” he says.

With his graduation coming up--which he has feelings of excitement for because he “can’t wait to get out high school and do something [he] wants to do”--he would like to leave the underclassmen with a worthy piece of advice.

“Don’t care what people think about you because they don’t understand you. Also, being popular doesn’t mean having a ton of friends at your school--it is about how everybody perceives you…Your success doesn’t depend on others.”

Aurora set him up for great success in the future. Not only was he able to get recruited to an exceptional school for the sport he loves, but he has many ambitions for his future. In 10 years, Nate says, “I see myself owning my own business--hopefully a big one.” His major is quite the perfect choice for these aspirations.

Nate is on his way to greatness this coming fall, with a promising baseball and professional career. To end this off by highlighting Nate’s humor, he exclaims, “I’ll see you on the battle bus.”
