Colleen Hoover's new book “Too Late: The Darkest Thriller of the Year” was recently published on June 27, 2023. This exciting and suspenseful novel will keep readers dying to read more as they encounter all the surprising twists throughout the book. In the “Dear Reader” written by Colleen Hoover at the beginning of the book she states that this book was never intended to be released, but as her writing process continued she grew into loving the storyline.

The story is broken down into chapters that go in between the point of view of Sloan, Carter, and Asa. At the story's beginning, the reader is first introduced to Sloan who we soon find out is in a relationship with Asa. She is a college student and desperately needs Asa's money to support her brother, who needs full-time medical care. Sloan slowly starts to rely on Asa and because of this he grows more and more captivated by her until their relationship becomes increasingly vicious. Asa Jackson is a renowned drug trafficker who is running the largest campus drug ring in collegiate history. Luke who is going undercover as “Carter” with his co-partner Dalton to bust this drug ring meets Sloan during their first college course together. Very early on he knows that he likes Sloan and pursues their relationship while she is still dating Asa. If he finds out that Sloan is cheating he will kill Carter. Sloan and Carter have to be able to figure out how to leave this situation before it becomes “Too Late”.

She lives in Texas with her husband and her 3 sons. Her novels are commonly in the Romance and young adult genres. It has been said that she is the “hottest author in America” and is currently the top-selling author in the United States.

The most enjoyable and interesting part about reading this book was all of the plot twists. Something new and exciting was happening in the book constantly which made it very hard to put down. “Too Late” was different from a lot of her other books because it brought up many various topics that Colleen Hoover had not previously written about. The topics in this book such as domestic violence, abuse, rape, and childhood trauma are very emotionally heavy and can be hard to read about. Each character in this book has a unique personality and storyline that evolves throughout reading the story, this makes the reader keep picking up the book and coming

back for more.

“Too Late” by Colleen Hoover is definitely worth reading. I found the book very engaging and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a different type of “heart-breaking” story. Some parts of the book were unbelievable and incredibly unlikely to actually happen but in my opinion, that's what made this book so interesting. Compared to her previous books this one really got my attention because of its distinct and dark romance narrative.
