Sam Hunt:

"Outskirts" Tour Review

You may know Sam Hunt as the singer of “Body Like a Back Road” which came out in 2017 and boosted his career. However, he’s also been creating music for over a decade. Although his 2017 single helped with the popularity, all of his other songs are just as good, if not better.

This past weekend, on March 3, Hunt performed at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown. After finding out in February, I decided to try getting concert tickets. The setlist was a mix of songs from his albums, “Montevallo” and “SOUTHSIDE” along with many of his singles. I feel that the songs he performed were songs that you could sing along with rather than just standing there and listening.

I got tickets with my best friend, and we were lucky enough to get floor seats. It’s safe to say that this was an amazing experience.

The concert started at 7:30 and the openers for the show were Lily Rose and Brett Young. Since my friend and I weren’t extremely familiar with Lily Rose, we decided to take our time when coming to the concert. We made it a little bit after Brett Young started his opening show, which although we weren’t very familiar with some of his songs, it was still super fun to watch and be in the crowd.

Around 9:30, Sam Hunt started performing his music. As soon as he came on, the entire vibe was elevated, and good vibes were all around. Everyone was so excited. They were standing and jumping, while also screaming with excitement. Their phones were out and they were all ready to record his performance. It’s safe to say that he’s an excellent performer. He took the time in between songs to talk to the audience, which I felt was very considerate. He was also very interactive with the crowd. He took pictures using fans’ phones and he also came off the stage a few times and walked around the crowd. There was a second stage set up closer to those that had seats higher up and farther away, and he performed three or four songs on that stage. It was nice seeing that he’s so appreciative of his fans.

The entire concert felt like a fever dream. It was so great to experience seeing Sam Hunt in concert after being a fan for so long. I’m so grateful to be able to experience something like this, especially after being so close. If you’re a fan of Sam Hunt and you’ve been thinking about seeing him before his “Outskirts” tour ends, I definitely recommend it!
