Mrs. Krizansky: Aurora High School's New Librarian!

Mrs. Krizansky started working in the Media Center at the end of the last school year. After working as an ACSD secretary she decided it was time for a change, this change was deciding to take on the role of running the Media Center full-time. Whether you need to pay school fees, have a question about various clubs, need a new book to read, or just need a place to do your homework, Mrs. Krizansky is the perfect person to go to.

Right after high school, Mrs. Krizansky attended Ohio University where she acquired her degree in Sociology. When talking about her college experience at OU she says, “It was really fun. It was fun to be on my own; it was fun to live on campus and go to classes.” She also attended Franklin University and this is where she earned her degree in Accounting. Her experience here was substantially different from the typical college experience she had at OU since at this point in her life she already had a job, so she was juggling working and getting her second degree.

In 2014, Mrs. Krizansky started getting trained to teach yoga. While talking about the reason she became interested in yoga she stated, “I have always just really loved fitness and yoga, especially for the calming and de-stressing kind of aspect to it.” After practicing yoga for nearly a decade, she found out that getting certified to instruct yoga is relatively easy. She now instructs yoga in her free time and said that doing yoga helps her manage the occasional stress that comes with running the Media Center full-time.

Before coming to Aurora High School, Mrs. Krizansky worked as a senior tax accountant and an ACSD secretary. For her, the biggest difference in transitioning from being a tax accountant to running the Media Center was time management. When talking about the corporate structure she explains, “There is also a lot of differences in what the work is. In the office, the job that I had in public accounting you had to account for every minute of work that you did because it's how you bill your clients.” Another distinction between now working in a school is the change in hours, breaks, and the structure of the day.

For Mrs. Krizansky, every day is completely different. At the beginning of the school year, it is very busy with collecting school fees, selling parking passes, and getting ready for homecoming. A portion of her time is also spent working with club advisors on what they will need to run their clubs and helping students who go down to the Media Center who are looking for resources such as books, etc. Her favorite part of the job is interacting with students and trying to get to know different people. She also enjoys being able to work with students and give them a different setting to work in during study halls and A-time.

The last thing that Mrs. Krizansky wants students to know about the Media Center is that there is a “Brain Break” center that has been donated by the PTO. This provides students with the opportunity to unwind and take a break during the day. Also, if anyone is on Twitter there is an AHS Library account to update students about news, links, and new books!
