On August 23, 2024, the album “Short n’ Sweet” by Sabrina Carpenter came out which has been a massive hit in the pop industry. After releasing the songs of the summer, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” Sabrina became one of the most popular artists of her time. Although her album from 2022 called “Emails I Can’t Send” and its tour were a huge success, her new album has topped the charts in just a few weeks and her popularity as an artist has skyrocketed.
This 12-track album is full of catchy songs that I can’t get out of my head. Along with the lead singles, “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” the songs “Taste” and “Bed Chem” have become extremely popular on TikTok and have become two of her most listened-to songs in just a few days. Along with the songs, there are hit music videos to go with them. “Espresso” and “Please Please Please” have a girly 1950s retro theme to them which hinted what the rest of the album would be like. When her new music video for her newest single, “Taste” came out, fans were shocked that it didn't match the previous themes. Instead, it features Jenna Ortega and Sabrina dramatically fighting throughout the video.
Sabrina Carpenter got her start on the Disney Channel staring in things like “The Adventures In Babysitting” and “Girl Meets World.” She has released a few various albums through Disney but “Emails I Can’t Send” and “Short n’ Sweet” have been her big break in the pop industry. Sabrina is known for her blonde, voluminous blowout and her perfect makeup routine, which everyone is trying to achieve. People love her and her cute style and are excited to see her go far.
Overall, this album was very cohesive and a well-put-together album. I think that all of the songs deserved a spot on the album and there wasn't one in particular that stood out to me as being “bad.” Something controversial that Sabrina did in this album was that she made some of the songs sound a little country. This was very unexpected because nobody would have expected any sort of country after listening to the singles.
After first listening, the songs that stuck out to me the most were “Good Graces,” “Bed Chem,” and “Juno.” The reason I like these songs is because they are some of the most upbeat songs on the album and they all have a very catchy chorus.
I would definitely recommend this album to others if they are looking for upbeat and fun songs. I would also say this is a good album to listen to as an introduction to the next big thing in pop, Sabrina Carpenter.
