Mithra Venkatesh is a sophomore who has made the most of her time at Aurora High School. Her involvement and determination are truly an inspiration for all students.
Mithra is a proud member of the tennis team and is excited to work towards her tennis goals: “The tennis team did well, I played doubles 1 and 2 on the JV team, due to the seniors playing varsity exhibition. I made many new friends with the freshmen. I improved my skills from my freshman year, but I hope to get a higher position in my junior year.”
Mithra takes leadership roles in almost all of her activities which says a lot about her character and initiative. Mithra is an active member of many different clubs and organizations: “I'm the secretary for the Sophomore Student Council, and I am part of the Letter Rose committee. I did track last year, and I have been doing dance for many years now. I am also a part of the marching band and play the clarinet.”
Mithra’s involvement shows her dedication and spirit as she balances her many responsibilities in her high positions within her activities. Mithra is very passionate about her involvement in her clubs, sports, and music. Her involvement has taught her many important lessons. Mithra says, “They are essential to me because I gain valuable skills and make new friends through different activities. They're also a way to relieve stress and focus on something other than school.”
Mithra has many positive memories from high school, specifically her time in the marching band. Marching band has provided her with memories that will last a lifetime and she has built friendships with many of her classmates. Mithra reminisces, “My favorite memory is in the marching band last year when we won the 2nd round of the playoffs. It was a close game, and as a freshman that was probably the first time I cared about football in my entire life. I didn't want the season to end, as I was experiencing everything for the first time, and I made so many good memories with the seniors and juniors as well.”
Not only is Mithra involved in many clubs and activities she also takes challenging classes. This only adds to her impeccable character and grit. She takes these hard classes to challenge herself, but ultimately to learn more about the world and apply this to her own life. “My favorite class this year is AP Bio, it is one of the hardest classes I've taken, but the topics we learn about change the way I view the world and how our body works with environmental challenges,” Mithra states.
Mithra has exciting plans for the future as she finishes her sophomore year and finishes school and beyond. Mithra says, “I would like to visit a European country and buy some books at a Barnes and Noble. I would like to be rich 😀,” she also adds, “I would like to go to college at Ohio State, and major in business or psychology, but anything is still on the table.”
After two years in high school, Mithra has some insights into what she has learned, Mithra noted, “An important lesson I have learned is to trust myself and my instincts, and not be influenced by other people's answers and opinions.”
Mithra is dedicated and always strives for success and greatness. She is an amazing friend, leader, classmate, and student who will not only succeed at AHS but will continue to show the world her amazing talents and aspirations.
