Freshman Mia Custer is a track star, golf pro, and excelling student here at AHS. Using her unwavering strengths, Custer will run very far in life, swinging towards her goals.
Custer is an outstanding freshman student who participates in various activities throughout the school. When asked if Custer participated in any sports she exclaimed, “I play golf and run track. My favorite out of the two is golf.” Custer is a powerful force not only in one sport but two! She is an amazing golfer who loves the game and takes pride in her performance. Custer works hard at practice and in matches never failing to impress the others.

Although this is just Custer’s first year in golf, she has made amazing progress, friendships, and unforgettable memories. Custer expressed, “I loved being a part of the golf team everyone was so welcoming and fun to play golf with.” Custer went into golf this year as a newbie and came out as a well known, comical, and amazing player and friend on the team.

Lots of memories were created during the 2024 golf season and when asked what Custer’s most memorable moment was, she declared, “My favorite memory of golf this year was going to meets in the early fall the scenery of the courses was beautiful.” There’s no doubt in my mind that Custer is wrong. Golf courses are beautiful with their scenery that consists of vast green land, trees, ponds, and more. Custer loved golfing in the fall season, as the colors on the leaves changed and the breeze in the wind swept her off her feet. The enjoyable setting gave Custer the motivation to swing her club forcefully, hitting her ball into the boundless green valley.
Not only does Custer partake in sports, but she is also involved in clubs. Custer states, “I am in student council and am the secretary for my class. I am also in interact club.” With this information, students can infer that Custer loves to help others through volunteering and giving back to the community. Custer, a secretary for her class plays a major role within the school. To be a secretary, you have to be responsible and diligent, traits that Custer easily carries.
Moving on to Custer’s performance in school, she is an excellent student with good grades and efficient qualities. Custer communicates, “I am a good student because I manage my time well to get homework done and study for upcoming tests.” Custer gives all of her success to her great strengths of time management and earnest behaviors. She will use these strengths to achieve a plethora of goals in her future.
Succeeding and doing well in school is not a problem for Custer, so she takes joy in learning and understanding the different classes she takes. Custer comments, “My favorite class this year is English, I love my teacher and I am having fun learning new things.” Although Custer still has four years left of high school, they will swing by because of her enjoyment in her studies, sports, and clubs.
Even though Custer has a playful personality, she doesn’t have the one thing to match her energy. She sadly utters, “I don't have any pets.” Though Custer has no furry friends she does find comfort and fun through many activities and the friends and family around her.
Custer with her friends
Custer is a great student, but it is crucial that even the most diligent students have free time. Custer vocalizes, “Outside of school, I like to watch movies, play basketball with my family, and hang out with friends.” Custer prioritizes the things and people she loves, making her an person inside and outside the classroom.
When asked what career Custer wanted to pursue in the future she pronounced, “My dream job is to become an NFL sideline sports reporter. I have always loved watching football and English has always been my favorite subject. In college, I would like to major in sports communication or broadcast journalism.” Custer will be taking her favorite hobbies and school subjects with her in her future endeavors.
I cannot wait to see Custer reach her goals in life, swing towards her dreams, and find joy in every aspect of her life whether that be with her family, at school, or her future career reporting a NFL game on the sidelines making history.
