Senora Williamson is a Spanish teacher at AHS. She’s been teaching for a total of 18 years, and plans to continue teaching for a long time!
Senora Williamson’s passion for teaching sparked as a child. She explained that she wanted to become a teacher because of her mom: “My mom was a teacher. As a child, I observed how fulfilling a career choice teaching is.” How sweet!
Williamson attended Hudson High School as a teen. After graduating high school, she attended OU and got her undergraduate degree from there. During her sophomore year, she got the chance to move to Pamplona, Spain and attended university there: “During my sophomore year at OU I moved to Pamplona, Spain and attended La Universidad Pública de Navarra.” While she’s been teaching at Aurora, she’s been able to earn two Master’s degrees in Curriculum and Instruction.
Williamson explained that her favorite subjects as a child included photography and Spanish. She continues on, sharing that Spanish is her favorite subject to teach: “I truly enjoy teaching every level of Spanish.” She also shares what she feels is her best quality as a teacher: “My positive attitude and ability to connect with students.”
Williamson also explains her favorite part about teaching at AHS, which are her students: “¡Los estudiantes! My students make me smile everyday! I enjoy connecting with my students and helping them to learn an amazing superpower.” The “amazing superpower” she’s referring to is speaking Spanish. This shows just how passionate she is about teaching!
She also shares how grateful she is for her students and staff, as over the years she’s been able to share some big life-milestones: “I am grateful I was able to share some of my greatest life milestones with my students and staff members. While teaching here I have celebrated the announcements of my engagement, marriage, and pregnancies.”
Outside of school, Williamson shares that she loves being outdoors, specifically with her family: “Hiking and boating with my family.” Her family consists of her husband, Phil, and her two children, Lucy and Jonah.
Tying in with her family, Williamson shares that her children have made the biggest impact on her: “My own children have made the largest impact on me. I love seeing how they develop and learn. I take my experiences with my own children into the classroom and I feel this helps me connect with students and their parents.”
Senora Williamson has definitely had a positive impact on students, staff, and everyone else that comes into contact with her. She has a contagious smile and her love for teaching along with her passion for Spanish makes it much more enjoyable to learn a whole new language.
