“But just know that no matter what you decide, and no matter what happens, I will feel this way about you for the rest of my life.” Nothing Like The Movies is the sequel to the iconic book, Better Than The Movies, both written by Lynn Painter.
As revealed in the epilogue of Better Than The Movies, Wes and Liz have started their relationship and are planning to go to UCLA together. A couple of months later, tragedy strikes, and Wes ends things with Liz and leaves UCLA.

The book then takes place two years after they had broken up, and Wes is back at UCLA to play baseball. Liz ends up working very closely with the baseball team, forcing her to spend time with Wes. Liz is very hesitant about letting Wes back into her life; on the other hand, Wes will do anything to get Liz back.
As someone who loves all of Lynn Painter’s books I’ve read in the past, I find this one a little difficult to get through. I loved Better Than The Movies and consider it one of my favorite books, and I had very high expectations for Nothing Like The Movies. However, when I found out that Wes and Liz were going to be broken up in this book, I was less excited to read it.
Although Wes and Liz being broken-up made the book hard to read, it was very well-written. Nothing Like The Movies touches on a lot of emotional topics that weren’t included in the first book due to the plot. Wes felt more like a main character than he did in the first book, showing a different side of himself.
Overall, this book is still worth reading if you liked Better Than The Movies. It includes the same Wes and Liz relationship many enjoyed in the first book. I recommend the first book and this book to anyone who is looking for a quick read with a cute romance.
