Anna Grummitt is a Junior at Aurora High School, a part of the golf team, drug-free club, interact club, stars, and national honors society. Anna shares, “I love volunteering through Interact. I have learned so much about helping others and it's so fulfilling to serve those in need”.
Grummitt shares why she decided to join the golf team and interact club. She explained, “I wanted to join golf because I grew up golfing with my dad. My friends were also doing it, so I decided to give it a go and I haven't looked back. I love the game, playing with my friends and Coach Baz, who never fails to give me the best pep talks when I'm feeling down. I also wanted to join Interact Club because I love helping others. Being a part of volunteer opportunities is so cool and has given me a new perspective on life and made me feel grateful for all I have”.
Anna also discusses her experience on golf teams and all the clubs she’s a member of. Grummit exclaimed, “My experiences in golf and my clubs have been so fulfilling. Through golf, I've learned about the importance of teamwork and hard work, and I have discovered the significance of serving your community and others in need. Helping people in need not only makes you feel good, but it also gives the people you are serving comfort, and what's better than that is absolutely nothing.”
When asked about Anna’s favorite memories that she made from sports, she revealed, “My favorite memory of golf is practice with my friends and the long bus rides before and after our matches. I love hysterically laughing with all the girls, even when we are so tired”.
Not only does Anna play golf and is active in many clubs, but she also has been thinking of ideas on what she wants to do in the future! Grummitt reveals, “A fun fact about myself is that I am a twin, I have two cute golden retrievers, and I hope to go into the medical or educational field one day so I can keep helping others, whether that be through medicine or the art of teaching others”.
Grummitt has so many supportive friends and family members but there’s somebody who she looks up to the most. She mentions, “I look up to my mom. She is the most kind and selfless person I know. She has taught me to be nice to others as you never know what they are going through. Her devotion to God is undeniably beautiful and makes me only want to grow my faith”.
With only a few months left of junior year, Anna is so excited for her senior year at Aurora. Anna exclaimed, “I am looking forward to writing my college essay. It might sound weird, but I love writing and telling a story, so it is something I'm excited for. Beyond that, I am thrilled to partake in senior activities like sledding, beach day, painting your cars, and more. Graduating with all my friends by my side will also be a memory I will never forget”.
Anna also shares one piece of advice she has for underclassmen. Grummit shares, “One piece of advice I have is to wear your heart on your sleeve. I know that leaves people more vulnerable, but there is a beautiful artistry in giving your heart to others, whether they want it or not. Always be kind to others and make that known to them. We can surely use more kindness in this world engulfed in hate”.
