For me 2025 was a very different music year from, what I usually listen to; while 2024 was a year full of indie pop, 2025 has taken a turn into alternative rock for me. But change isn't necessarily bad. This past year, I've discovered new artists and songs that I've fallen in love with.
Top Artists:
Radiohead: I first started listening to this band back in March when I first heard their song "Karma Police" while watching a TV show; the introduction of "Karma Police" eventually lead me to stream one of their most popular albums, "OK Computer", which I immediately fell in love with. Although "OK Computer" was my most streamed album this year, I'd now argue that my favorite album of theirs is either "The Bends" or "All Hail to The Thief," (preferably the live album). I can't even begin to describe how their music makes me feel. Having 4/5 of my top songs being Radiohead songs makes perfect sense since I streamed their music all year long. Even though "Karma Police" was my top song and I played it 125 times, I expected "Just" or "Paranoid Android" to take my top song since I love those two songs.
Suki Waterhouse: With Suki Waterhouse being on my top five last year, her staying in second place didn't surprise me one bit, I actually saw it coming. Once Again "Memoir of a Sparklemuffin" has been one of my most streamed albums. I don't know what Suki Waterhouse put into that record that makes it so addictive and amazing; every time I hear it, it puts me in a good mood and makes me want to sing-a-long to every single song on it.
Lana Del Rey: Taking place as my top artist last year, my intake of Lana's music has decreased. Although I still adore her music, the music I listen to has changed and Lana isn't keeping up with the change. Surprisingly, none of Lana's albums showed up on my top albums even though I frequently listen to "NFR" and "Blue Banisters."
Mitski: I've been listening to Mitski for a while but she hasn't been on my top artists in a couple of years. Her album "Bury Me at Makeout Creek" is one of my favorite albums of all time, I like how the songs on it can go from being slow to really fast and they have great instrumentals. "First Love/Late Spring" took second place in my top songs, this song is from "Bury Me at Makeout Creek"; I knew this song was going to make it somewhere on my top five since I streamed it basically everyday.
Wallows: This one completely took me by suprise; I went to a Wallows concert back in June but since then I've stopped listening to their music. Although, I will mention that I liked their EP "More" that they released a couple of months ago.
This year on Apple Music, I listened to 12,862 minutes, compared to last year, I listened to over 1,000 more minutes. I have always loved music, but I most commonly listened when I was going to dance competitions, football games, getting ready, or doing my homework. Overall, I feel like my top songs and top artists are accurate, but with top albums, I do not feel they are an accurate representation of what I listened to.
"Everywhere, Everything" by Noah Kahan and Gracie Abrams: Coincidentally, this is my solo song for dance this year. I love how the song flows and how the story behind the song is truly expressed in the music.
"Iris" by The Goo Goo Dolls: This song is a classic. I love how this song sounds as a whole. I am honestly not surprised that this song ended up in the top 3. I love listening to this, no matter what I am doing.
"Around Me" by Metro Boomin: I listened to this song a lot from January to April of this year. Overall, it is such a great song; it's a change of pace from my normal music taste, but I still love it.
The Neighborhood: Along with my third top song. I also listened to The Neighborhood a lot at the beginning of the year. I have always loved listening to them; their music is like no other. I probably spent the most amount of time listening to them.
Gracie Abrams: I love listening to Gracie Abrams; overall, her music is amazing. The message behind every song connects differently, and that's what I love about her music.
Oasis: I am surprised that Oasis was not my top artist. I am obsessed with their music. Although it is older, I love the vibe of their songs, and I feel like the songs are good for any moment.
My top albums this year were "Fine Line," "Hamilton," "Harry’s House," "Harry Styles," and "Made in the A.M." It’s no surprise that 3 of my top albums are by Harry Styles, considering he is one of my top artists this year. Hamilton is my favorite musical because I absolutely love the soundtrack; I could listen to it on repeat. Since One Direction is my top artist, it's also not a shock that one of their albums showed up here.
This year on Spotify, I listened to 56,975 minutes, a slight decrease from last year but still a fairly large number. I’ve always loved music, and I usually get ready or do my homework while listening to music, which would explain my stats. My top artists, top albums, and top genre, I would say, are accurate to my music taste; however, I don’t believe my top songs are an accurate representation of my most liked songs on Spotify.
Top Artists:
1. One Direction: I’ve always been a huge fan of One Direction ever since I was a little kid. I grew up listening to their songs all the time. Funny enough, I’ve always had a strange connection with the British boy band; the band formed the year I was born, I share a name with one of their songs, and Zayn Malik left the group on my birthday in 2015.
2. The Weeknd: I wasn’t surprised to find The Weeknd on my top artists list, because I noticed myself enjoying a lot of his songs this year. I love listening to his music late at night sometimes, when everything in the world is dark; it sets the mood to match his music.
3. Harry Styles: Naturally, a One Direction member appears on this list; that's no shocker. Styles has an incredible voice that I love listening to. Every time I hear one of his songs, I just have to sing along.
4. Ariana Grande: Always an icon, Ariana Grande has lots of great songs. Her voice is so beautiful that I love almost every song of hers. I grew up listening to her songs, and I also really enjoyed her on the “Wicked” soundtrack, so she was constantly playing on my Spotify.
5. Niall Horan: Yet another One Direction member makes his appearance on my top artists list this year. The Irish singer isn’t quite as popular as the rest of the artists on this list, but I’ve always been a fan of his.
Top Songs:
1. “See You Again” by Tyler, the Creator: I was a little confused at first when I saw this was my top song. It’s not that I don’t like the song, but it’s just never been one of my favorites. It is on a lot of my playlists, however, which might explain its place at number 1.
2. “Shake That Monkey” by Lil Jon & The East Side Boyz and Too Short: I feel that this song should definitely not be on my top songs list. I don’t think I even listened to it that many times. I blame its appearance here on my search for hip-hop solo songs for dance earlier this year.
3. “505” by Arctic Monkeys: I’ve always thought this was a good song, and it’s on several of my regular playlists. I enjoy a lot of songs by this artist, so seeing this song at #3 didn’t surprise me.
4. “Friday” by Nightcrawlers: I was introduced to this song through the Formula 1 fanbase this year, and it has definitely grown on me over time. It’s catchy and upbeat, and not too common a tune.
5. “Lady Killer II” by G-Eazy: Now this is a song that definitely belongs on this list. It's both catchy and relaxing at the same time. I always love playing this song.
I have only listened to 6,821 minutes of music on Spotify, mainly because my monthly subscription was unpaid, leading to uncomfortable, silent car rides… Hopefully, next year, my minutes improve, and I remember to pay Spotify. No guarantees, though, so fingers crossed.
Top Artists:
Lizzy McAlpine: An Icon. A storyteller. A lyrical genius. And, in all honesty, someone you listen to when you want to sit with your emotions and feel your sadness in all its fullness. Lizzy’s music is relatable and makes you feel heard and not alone, no matter what stage of life you are in.
Sabrina Carpenter: Sabrina is “that girl,” with her upbeat songs being a necessity for late-night drives with your best friends and immediately putting you in a good mood. From breakups to any sort of conflict, Sabrina is the artist who will give you an outlet to release your anger and make you feel understood.
Phoebe Bridgers: Surprisingly, she is my third-favourite artist, although I don’t know much about her or her music. She resembles Lizzy McAlpine, bringing forth all the feels. Phoebe definitely gives off “Sad girl energy,” making all of us feel less alone in our struggles.
ROLE MODEL: Three words: catchy, fun, and stylish. ROLE MODEL brings the energy and spirit to brighten your mood in any given situation. Bringing out special guests for his song “Sally, When the Wine Runs Out” brings giddy surprises and endless smiles. Seeing him in concert is without a doubt on my bucket list.
Noah Kahan: A comforting artist I put on to bring back happy memories or bring me peace of mind. Noah is relatable and warm; his music reminds me of sitting by a fireplace on a wintery evening, with a hot cocoa in hand and friends and family by your side. Noah Kahan will forever be one of my favorite concerts and an artist I can always come back to.
Top Songs:
Staying: Although “Staying” is about the ups and downs of a relationship, wanting to stay and then leave, I love the melodies and Lizzy’s voice and find relatability in the indecisive decisions, and relationships create (I am sadly a very indecisive person).
A Little Bit of Everything: This song puts me in my feels. Lizzy created this song to embrace life’s chaotic beauty; from the messy moments to the happy ones, life can be challenging, and it is important to sit in your thoughts and work through them. Life, with all its complexities, offers an abundance of emotions, and this song lets me work through them, just as Lizzy intended.
Soccer Practice: This song is about wishing your reality were different, whether that be in relationships, friendships, or goals/desires. I tend to get caught up in my dreams and what I wish would be my reality or future instead of being in the present and being thankful for what I have. This song helps me to slow down, and for that, I appreciate it.
Better Than This: In “Better Than This”, McAlpine brings forth the idea of feeling unworthy or not good enough. Like many teenagers, I can relate to this feeling and connect with this song. She hopes for a better future and that someone will love and appreciate her for all her flaws, as I do, showing relatability in self-doubt and desires for love.
Sally, When The Wine Runs Out: This song brings joy and excitement, making me giddy whenever I witness ROLE MODEL’s new “Sally” during a performance. From Comedy Media Influencer Jake Shane to actress Natalie Portman to my favorite musical artist, Lizzy McAlpine, ROLE MODEL brings celebrities together to celebrate icons. She shows his yearning for a deeper connection with his “Sally” when the “Wine runs out”, and he becomes sober. Friendships and connections filled with fun and laughter are what life is all about, and that is just one of the many reasons why I love this song.
Let’s just say, I am a Lizzy McAlpine stan and connect with her music on many levels. She is a lyrical genius and one I will continue to listen to. So shout out to ROLE MODEL and Sabrina for bringing me songs to shout, laugh, and smile too, and Phoebe Bridgers and Lizzy McAlpine, songs to connect, relate, and sit in silence too. Overall, the 2025 Spotify Wrap is an accurate representation of me and my music taste.
Minutes Listened
I have listened to a total of 36,100 minutes this year. I am not surprised since I love listening to music! Spotify has always been my favorite music app because of how easy it is to organize. I usually listen to music whenever I'm doing homework, on drives, and just in general.
Top Artists
1. Cigarettes After Sex: I have listened to this artist for many years. I mostly listen to them almost every night when I fall asleep. I find their songs very calming and relaxing. They have been pretty popular, and I have listened to a variety of their songs. Although I would not say they are my number one choice, I have grown to like them more this past year.
2. Phoebe Bridgers: I have definitely listened to her more this year than I ever have. Her voice is delightful, and her lyrics are easy to connect to and understand. Although I don't listen to many of her songs, I enjoy listening to them when I do.
3. The Lumineers: They are definitely my favorite group. Ever since I was little, I have listened to them. No matter what mood I am in, I can always listen to a song by them. Their songs are very peaceful and pleasant. Although there are so many good songs, my favorite song by them is "Ho Hey" because it reminds me of my childhood.
4. Mac Miller: Throughout these past two years, Mac Miller has been my favorite artist. I appreciate his music so much and will forever listen to his albums. His music is very enjoyable to listen to, and he is so easy to love. No matter the season or the mood, I could always play his music.
5. Lorde: She is definitely one of my favorite female music artists. Some of my favorite songs of hers are popular, but so good, they include: "Ribs", "Team", and "A World Alone". Although they are basic, they make me feel good about myself. Her voice is naturally so beautiful, and she puts in the hard work.
Top Songs
1. "Love Lost" by Mac Miller, The Temper Trap: I am not surprised this song is my number one. This has been my favorite song for a long time, and it is so beautifully sung. This song will always cheer me up, and I could listen to it on repeat. Any time I have my headphones in I listen to this song everytime. No matter if I'm studying, in the car, or just listening to music for fun, it is always playing.
2. "More Than Life" by Whitley: When I was rewatching one of my favorite shows, I discovered this song. This year, there was a period of time this year I was obsessed with this song. Although it is not that popular, it is very calming. This is another song I listen to when I fall asleep because of how relaxing it is. This is the only song I listen to by Whitley, but I have no complaints about the song!
3. "Champagne Coast” by Blood Orange: This song is definitely one of my favorites. I love listening to this song on late-night drives. When this song became popular, I immediately loved it and listened to it on repeat.
4. "Waiting Room" by Phoebe Bridgers: I listened to this song many times throughout the year, and I never get sick of it. No matter what sadness I am feeling I can always go back to this song. Even when I am not sad, I just love her music!
5. "Sparks" by Coldplay: I have always been a fan of Coldplay, and I am not surprised this song made it to my top five. Even though this is another sad song, I can listen to it whenever. I could listen to sad music all day long just because of how calming the music is!
Overall, I am mostly happy with how my wrapped turned out this year. Although I would not agree with some of my top songs and artists, for the most part I agree with them.
Top Artists -
Taylor Swift: To no one's suprise, Taylor Swift was my most streamed artst for the fifth year in a row. Over the year, I listened to 1,394 minutes of Taylor Swift, which is significantly lower compared to past years. She released "The Life of a Show Girl"this year, which made me revisit her music agian in the later months. However, I wasn’t a huge fan of the album, so instead of listening to all the songs constantly, I mainly just replayed the few songs I enjoyed. I really like Taylor Swift and her music, however, I hope that next year I can expand my music taste and maybe see a new artist at the top of my list.
Sabrina Carpenter: Moving on to my second artist, Sabrina Carpenter, this was once again no surprise to me. She released her seventh studio album, Man’s Best Friend, this year, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Several of the songs made it into my top songs on my Wrapped as well. I have been listening to Sabrina Carpenter for years, even before she really blew up, and I’ve loved everything she has put out. The album she released this year was especially fun to listen to and always put me in a great mood. Once again, this is an album where every track is good, and I enjoy listening to all of them. Sabrina’s songwriting is clever and catchy, which makes every song enjoyable.
Lizzy McAlpine: The third artist who made it onto my list is Lizzy McAlpine. I started listening to her this year, and once I started, I couldn’t stop. I really enjoyed her album Older (And Wiser), and several songs from that album made it into my top songs on my Apple Music Wrapped. Something interesting about Lizzy McAlpine is that her lyrics tend to be simple, yet they capture an exact feeling or moment that many people can relate to. Her music feels very honest and raw, which makes it easy to connect to emotionally. I also appreciate how her songs are more stripped-down and acoustic, allowing her voice and storytelling to stand out. Because of this, her music became something I listened to often.
Birteny Spears: Blackout by Britney Spears was my top album of the year.
ABBA: ABBA has been one of my top artists for two years in a row now. Their music always manages to put me in a good mood. I love ABBA becasuse even though their a band from the 70s their music still feels fresh and new, like it was made today. how their music feels both nostalgic and fresh at the same time, which is why I continue to come back to it year after year.
Top Songs -
Sports Car by Tate Mcare
I was not surprised that this song was my number one. When it first came out, I streamed it nonstop. I’m not the biggest Tate McRae fan overall; however, I do really enjoy a few of her songs, and this is definitely one of them. “Sports Car” reminds me a lot of 2000s pop, which is some of my favorite music, and I think that’s why I enjoyed it so much. According to Apple Music, I listened to this song 63 times.
Pushing it Down, Praying by Lizzy McAlpine
This was my second most-streamed song, and again, I wasn’t surprised. Just like “Sports Car,” I streamed this song constantly throughout the year and never got tired of it. This was one of the songs that introduced me to Lizzy McAlpine, and it’s still one of my favorites. As I mentioned earlier, she is incredibly good at writing simple lyrics that are deeply relatable and emotional, and this song perfectly represents that. One lyric that stands out to me is, “Softer, harder, in between, you know just how to get to me. He is stable, you are deep. I know just how to get what I need,” which captures complex emotions in a very honest and subtle way.
Tomorrow Never Came by Lana Del Rey
This year, I also spent a lot of time listening to Lana Del Rey, and "Tomorrow Never Came" stood out as one of my favorites. The song has a dreamy, nostalgic vibe that I love. I really relate to this song and the lyrics really
Artists:
Johnny Cash is a legendary artist whose music remains timeless and meaningful today. I have liked him since I was 6; I heard him on the car radio playing "Ring of Fire." I really like him because his music has a good beat, and each one feels like it is also a story that can be heard again and again. Cash's music feels unique; his songs are not just something you can listen to, you can picture them in your head. His authenticity really drew me to him.
Mumford & Sons is usually playing in the background. They always go well with anything I'm doing, while playing video games, studying, or whatever. I don't really listen to them, to be honest, but I rarely listen to music, pushing them to the top.
Zach Bryan has an honest and emotional feel. His voice has that perfect, weathered quality that makes his songs feel personal. Whether he’s singing about love, struggles, or just life, it feels like he’s speaking to you directly. There’s something simple but powerful about his music, and that’s what makes me come back to it every time.
Songs
One Piece at a Time is one of my favorite Johnny Cash songs; the storytelling is good. The picture he paints makes the characters seem like they actually could have done this despite the obvious lie. The song keeps a good beat and really just makes me happy whenever I listen to it.
Stick Season by Noah Kahan is just has great lyrics and a vibe that sticks out to me. I feel like it just has that great sound I look for in music. I really listen to the same five songs.
Riptide is quite the outlier here. I love how upbeat it is and just the randomness of how it sounds. This song pops up in all of my playlists. It feels like an adventure with a ton of different people, and you get to go on all of them .
Overall, this year was instantly a better Spotify Wrapped year for me than last year. Over the course of this year, I managed to listen to 14,066 minutes of music. This shocked me because I had purchased Spotify for the first time this year and thought I would at least have 25,000 minutes. My top genre was indie pop, and was much expected, as I tend to listen to the same types of music. According to Spotify, my ‘listening age’ is predicted to be 33 years old. Occasionally throughout the year, I did get really into 2000s music, so this is understandable. Next, I’ll specifically dive into each of my top artists and songs.
Top Artists -
Taylor Swift: Unsurprisingly, Taylor Swift is my top artist for the third year in a row. This year, I was in the top 2% of listeners and managed to listen to 2,095 minutes of her music. Although I listened to her significantly less this year compared to past years, she remains at the top due to past years. I enjoyed listening to her latest release, “The Life of a Showgirl,” this year. Tracks that stood out to me from this release include “Actually Romantic” and “The Fate of Ophelia.” I find a lot of enjoyment in her music; however, I hope to change my top artist next year, as it’s been the same for the past three years.
ROLE MODEL: Moving on to my second top artist is ROLE MODEL. I wasn’t too surprised, as I listened to him a lot at the beginning of the year after the release of his deluxe album, “Kansas Anymore (The Longest Goodbye).” I love everything about this album; there’s no bad song on it. My top song was even one of the most popular off this album, “Sally, When The Wine Runs Out.”
Sabrina Carpenter: Third on my lineup of artists is Sabrina Carpenter. Because of the release of her album, “Short n’ Sweet,” I began to listen to her more over the summer. Recently, I have been enjoying “Man’s Best Friend,” with one of the tracks featured on my top songs. Once again, this is an album where all of the tracks are good. I enjoy listening to all of them. Sabrina’s songwriting is so clever and catchy, making all of the songs enjoyable.
Gracie Abrams: Next, once again unsurprisingly, is Gracie Abrams. Recently, I haven’t listened to her songs as much as I’d like to, but I still love them. Her album, “The Secret of Us,” will always be one of my favorites to listen to, as it reminds me of warm spring weather.
The Neighbourhood: The last group of artists on my Spotify Wrapped this year is The Neighbourhood. As they released their first album since 2018 this past October, my listening to them has increased dramatically. I had become a fan of them many years ago, and was shocked when they released a new song on my birthday this year. Some tracks that stood out to me this year are “Private,” which was even featured in my top songs, and “Hula Girl.”
Top Songs -
“Sally, When The Wine Runs Out” by ROLE MODEL:
It’s safe to say I was shocked when I saw this song as my number one song of this year. To be fair, I did listen to it on repeat when it came out, but I didn’t think it would rank first on my list. Based on Spotify’s report, I listened to this song 44 times this year.
“Old Recliners” by ROLE MODEL:
Another ROLE MODEL song is ranked pretty high on my top songs this year. As I said before, I loved his new release this year and listened to it on repeat during the month it came out. This song is definitely slower compared to “Sally, When The Wine Runs Out,” and is one of my all-time favorites from him.
“Nobody’s Son” by Sabrina Carpenter:
Sabrina Carpenter’s most recently released album, “Man’s Best Friend,” is one of my current favorites. I would definitely say that this song is one of my favorites, as it’s super catchy and has a fun vibe to it.
“You’re All I Got” by The Lumineers:
Because The Lumineers were pretty high on my top artists last year, I did expect at least one song to make it on my ranking. In February, they released a new album titled “Automatic.” You’re All I Got” did stand out to me, and I’m glad this song was released. I hope to make listening to them part of more of my playlists, because I do love their music!
“Private” by The Neighbourhood:
The fifth and final song, a part of my top songs rankings, is “Private” by The Neighbourhood. I love everything about this song: the rhythm, the beat, and the lyrics. It’s become one of my go-to songs to play while driving or studying. I wasn’t too surprised this made it on my ranking; however, it didn’t come out too long ago, so I must’ve listened to it plenty of times for it to cut.
Overall, I’m not upset with my Spotify Wrapped this year. I wish I could’ve had more minutes of listening; however, I didn’t have Spotify Premium for part of this year. I do wish one of my all-time favorite artists made it onto my ranking, though, and that artist would be Noah Kahan. Besides that, I think it pretty well represents my listening, and I’m glad it turned out the way it did.
Unlike Spotify, Apple Music had me in a chokehold this year with my 115,839 minutes of music. During late-night drives, long car rides, and moments that felt dull, I always had music. Music is something that I consistently return to and never get tired of. My top genres being Hip-Hop, R&B & Soul, and Pop make perfect sense, I feel it is a balance. Hip-Hop gives me energy, R&B & Soul allows me to feel emotionally connected, and Pop is familiar and comfortable. All these genres together create a perfect playlist for my joyful, loud, reflective, and even quiet moments. Next, I will get into my top artists this year!
Top Artists:
SZA
SZA sits comfortably as my number one artist this year, which is no surprise to me. I feel very connected to her music, whatever she is singing about, if it's love, insecurity, heartbreak, or growth, her lyrics feel personal and validating. Her music makes me feel more understood. Seeing SZA in concert had to be life-changing for me. I felt as if I was floating. Hearing her music in person made her music hit harder and more emotionally. SZA will always be an artist I will return to and never get tired of.
Drake
Drake being my number two is also no surprise to me. I have always returned to his music, no matter if it's old or new. Drake always has a song that fits for a situation or a mood I am feeling, whether it is to get hyped up or something to listen to and relax to, he has it. Attending Drake's concert made me like him and his music even more. Being surrounded by people singing their hearts out while seeing him on stage play songs I have known for years made it an unforgettable experience. His place as top two is definitely solid.
The Weeknd
Seeing The Weeknd as the top three kinda surprised me, honestly. He is not my go-to artist, but he is definitely up there. I find his music very good, and I have always gone back to him. I feel like he gets me in a more relaxed and chillier mood than other artists, which I like a lot! Sometimes I have to relisten to his songs to realize how good they actually are. The top three are surprising, but I can definitely see why.
Top Songs
Home (KOD) by Playboy Carti
I played this song 94 times according to Apple Music, and I was kind of shocked when I saw this as my number one, but I do really like this song. It has more of a mellow and atmospheric vibe. When I first started listening to this song, I honestly overplayed it, but I still rarely skip it.
One of the girls by The Weeknd, JENNIE & Lilly Rose Depp
I listened to this song 91 times, which is not a surprise to me. At the beginning of the year, I was obsessed with this song for some reason and had it on repeat. I still think it is a really good song, but not one of my favorites. I really like how all of them sound together and the tune/beat.
Unforgettable by French Montana (feat. Swae Lee)
This song brings me nostalgia and familiarity. I played this song 80 times during the summer, and it was my favorite song that I would play over and over, and never got sick of it. This song would automatically put me in a good and fun mood. It is about creating lasting memories. The vibe of this song just makes me happy and energetic for some reason, along with my connection to it. Unforgettable is one of those songs that is instantly recognizable and never fails to lift the mood, no matter how many times you may have heard it. I am not surprised it was my top three song.
Overall, I am happy with how my 2025 Apple Music Replay turned out. I feel like it is very accurate. It also reflects on how I use music as a comfort and something I will always return to. You can see my love for music just by seeing my minutes, from softer and chiller music to more loud and exciting I love to listen.
This year I listened to around 33,000 minutes of music, and I’d say my Spotify Wrapped summarizes my music taste much better than last year's.
I would say my top artists are pretty close to what I expected. I have loved listening to Tate McRae for a while and I love how versatile her music is. I was expecting Taylor Swift to be on my list this year because I like listening to albums like “Folklore” and “Evermore” when I’m studying, but I wasn’t expecting her to be so high up. Lana Del Rey also has a lot of music that I listen to when I’m studying; however, with the exception of a few songs, I tend to not listen to as much of her music over the summer and fall. My next two artists are The Weeknd and Rihanna and I do not find myself listening to their full albums as much, but they both have some hits that I find myself adding to many of my playlists.
My top three songs are all by Lana Del Rey this year; “Chemtrails Over The Country Club”, “NFR”, and “West Coast” are all amazing songs that I find myself listening to on repeat without getting sick of. I definitely did not expect “Can’t Feel My Face” to be on my wrap this year, I don’t find myself adding it to my queue much, but it is on several playlists so I could see why it's in my top five. My fifth song in my wrapped is “Ribs" by Lorde which is one of my favorite songs. I definitely listened to this song a lot more over the summer, but it’s still on replay during many other months.
Overall, I am pretty satisfied with my Wrapped, it does a pretty good job at summarizing this year's listening, especially compared to last year; I can’t wait to see how my music taste will continue to expand in years to come!
This year on Amazon Music, The Smashing Pumpkins dominated my headphones, Alexa, and CarPlay. Along with The Smashing Pumpkins, my top artists varied from The Beatles to Noah Kahan, and my top songs range from Norah Jones to Alice In Chains.
My top genre was Alternative rock, which was heavily influenced by my listening to The Smashing Pumpkins. The Smashing Pumpkins are my favourite artists because not only do I love their music and scratchy guitar solos, but they were also introduced to me by my dad, and since then, we have bonded over them.
However, I was very shocked to see John, Paul, George, and Ringo make an appearance, let alone my top 2. The Beatles are always on my Amazon Music Wrapped; this year, I'll blame it on APUSH. While studying for the APUSH exam, I listened to The Beatles to help me really immerse myself in the mid-20th-century timeline.
Last year, Noah Kahan was my number 1, so no shocker that he is in my top 3. Noah Kahan is a great listen for getting ready, long car rides, studying, or anything for that matter. He fits!
Lastly, my top songs are "Mayonaise" by The Smashing Pumpkins, "Nutshell" by Alice In Chains, and "Don't Know Why" by Norah Jones. Each song is a different time of the year. "Nutshell" was primarily in the January-April months when we were all defrosting and getting over the winter depression. "Mayonaise" my May-August months when summer is in full swing, and we are all fully defrosted. Some may argue “Mayonaise” to still be “emo”, but for me it's a great song for the window down and hot air. Finally, we have Norah Jones’s “Don't Know Why”, which, in my opinion, is the perfect fall song, and to attach that her entire album” Come Away With Me” is peak fall vibes.
I love it when music streaming platforms come out with these yearly wraps. I think it's a great way for people to bond and discuss aspects of their lives through music, and I hope that from this, you even got some song recommendations!
This year on my Amazon Music Wrapped, although I thought I finally gotten her off my top artists, Taylor Swift still ended up as my #1 artist. Luckily, along with her, I got my two favorite artists, Tate McRae and Zach Bryan.
As much as I enjoy Taylor Swift's music, I do not think she is deserving of my number 1 spot. I definitely listened to her at some points this year, like her Midnights album and Folklore, just not enough that was deserving of my #1 spot. Her new album I also thought was fine and I would give it a 7/10 but is nowhere in comparison to her other music. I only got in the top 1% for listening to her music and I feel as if that is not that good.
Following Taylor Swift I had Zach Bryan. Zach Bryan I listen to a ton especially in the summer well I am tanning by the pool. Although he did not come out with any new albums this year he came out with a few new singles, but all of his older albums are still really good and are definitely go-to's when I am tanning or with my friends in the warm weather. I got in the top .5% for him and I feel that is pretty accurate for the amount I listened to him.
Lastly on my Top Artists I had Tate McRae. I was very happy to see her as my 3rd top artist. I started listening to her at the end of 2024 and listened to her a lot this year including even going to her concert in August. I loved her new album “So Close to What” a lot, especially the deluxe version of the album that came out later this year. I think that she shouldvé been my top artist or my second at least, especially because of the amount of time I spent listening to her. I came in the top .5% for listeners.
Regarding my top songs they were kind of all over the place.
First, I had “Party 4 u” by Charli XCX. This makes kind of sense because It is a very long song and I listened to it a lot in the beginning of the summer and was really popular on social media as well.
Next I had a “Purple lace bra” by Tate McRae. This might have been my favorite song of the year. Especially a few months before her concert, I would listen to this song all of the time and know all of the words to it.
Finally, my third top song was “The Days” by Chrystal and Notion. This is a random song but I am not surprised it ended up here. It was a very summer song and I also listened to it a lot in the beginning of the school year before football games.
I feel my spotlight wrapped made a lot of sense besides Taylor Swift as my top artist. Hopefully next year I find some more accurate results but it was another great year of listening to music with a total of 67,437 minutes listened!
TOP SONGS
Finally, my top song was “Champagne Coast” by Blood Orange. I loved this song throughout the entire year, and it's a song that you can play no matter what season it is. This is probably my favorite song I listen to while reading books in my free time because I love the lyrics and the melody. My second most played song was “Scorsese Baby Daddy” by SZA. I love SZA a lot ever since I started listening to her a few years ago. This year, SZA released a new album called “SOS Deluxe,” and there are a couple of songs in that album that have gone viral on TikTok. My third most-listened song of the year was “Free Now, " by Gracie Abrams. I have loved this song since I heard it for the first time. It is a very different-sounding song from my others on this list, but I love the calm vibe and the bridge of the song.
TOP ARTISTS
This year, I listened to many different albums, new songs, and artists that will become staples in my music rotation. My top artist this year is Noah Kahan. This is the second year in a row that he has been my top artist. I started liking him a lot last year, and I attended his concert at Blossom Music Center at the start of Summer 2024. It was one of the best concerts I’ve been to. Noah Kahan has released so many songs in the past couple of years that it is hard for me not to take up a big part of my playlists. followed by Frank Ocean, he was my second-most listened-to artist this year. I LOVE his music, and I really want him to come back and make music, as people say he is “hiding” from the music world as of right now. My third top artist is SZA, whose music is on repeat all year round in my car. I love her style of music, and I’m dying to go see her in concert. This year, she released a new album called “SOS Deluxe: Lana,” and it has created some of my new favorite songs to listen to.
TOP ALBUMS
This year, I had a different top album, but the same artist as last year’s Apple Music Replay. Sabrina Carpenter's new album “A Man’s Bestfriend” is my top album of 2025. When Sabrina released this album, I went to listen to it ASAP. I loved the music rhythms, along with the upbeat tunes. In September of 2024, I went to see Sabrina Carpenter perform her “Short N Sweet” album, and I’m really hoping to go to her new concert if she goes on tour again. But my second album was “Stick Season” by Noah Kahan. I started listening to this album last winter, and I really liked some of the songs. This is right around the time when Noah Kahan released this album, and he was announcing his tour dates. He hasn’t released any new music since then, but I’m hoping he hurries up and releases a new album for it to take place on my next year’s Apple Music Replay. Lastly, my third top album was “CHROMAKOPIA” by Tyler, the Creator, which I listened to at the beginning of the year. Some of my favorite songs from this album are “Like Him” and “St Chroma,” which I listened to all the time, but did not make it in my top three.
