For years, Starbucks and Dunkin have been among the biggest, most well-known coffee shop rivalries. As summer is just around the corner, both of these chains have released summer drink refreshers, but people who don’t have the funds to buy overpriced drinks every day may be wondering which one is worth it.
The Dunkin Donuts beverage is advertised as a Tropical Guava Refresher, and customers can switch up their order by adding green tea or lemonade. Dunkin’s refresher is the cheaper of the two; however, customers are wondering if the extra cost at Starbucks is worth it for a better-quality drink.
AHS student, Ava Worman, says, “I enjoyed this drink. I ordered it with green tea, and I thought it had a pretty strong flavor; however, the flavor did not feel too overwhelming.” Ava then goes on to say that she would definitely recommend it to a friend, and she will likely have it again this summer.
Natalie Magdics, a junior at AHS, adds, “It was so good, I’ve had it with lemonade and sparkling water. I would buy it again, and would recommend ordering it with lemonade. It is the perfect drink for summer!”
While lots of people have stated that the Dunkin’ refresher is good, Starbucks has been known for its refreshers for years. Almost everyone who has gone to Starbucks and wanted a switch-up from coffee has gotten a refresher, their most popular being the Strawberry Açai Refresher. Since the summer menu has come out, Starbucks has released its Summer-Berry Refreshers.
AHS sophomore Maryia Mata-Sanchez explains, “I think it is pretty good, it’s very refreshing, I think it has a stronger flavor than other Starbucks refreshers, however, I don’t think it is too strong, and I would totally recommend it to a friend.”
The refreshers come with either inclusions of water, lemonade, or coconut milk, which offer a variety of options and flavors for customers to choose from. Both Dunkin’ and Starbucks offer multiple choices on their menu, so which one is better. Overall, it is an opinionated-based answer on which tastes better, but if you want a good drink and are looking for the cheaper option of the two, choose Dunkin's refresher. If you are looking for a drink with something different, like boba or coconut milk, choose Starbucks.
Overall, customers are getting a good new summer menu that can make for a fruity and delicious drink on the go, whether they choose Starbucks or Dunkin’ Donuts!
