Love, deception, and forgiveness all take place in the new popular movie “Regretting You.”
“Regretting You” was actually a book first written by Colleen Hoover, and it has only gained popularity since the movie was released. I personally have never read the book, but after watching the movie, reading the book was the first thing on my to-do list!
This movie is based on four main characters. Miller Adams (Mason Thames) and Clara Grant (McKenna Grace) are two teenagers in their senior year of high school and are love interests. Mckenna’s mom, Morgan Grant (Allison Williams), and then her love interest, Jonah Sullivan (Dave Franco).
The movie begins with Clara driving home from school when she sees Miller waiting at the city limit road sign, and she then decides to pick him up. This is where their friendship starts, and when they hung out for the first time. As the movie progresses, viewers watch their “love story” continue. It took a while, but they eventually started dating after a few rough weeks of going back and forth. In between watching that, audience members see another romance happening as well between Morgan and Jonah.
The story unfolds in a weird way where a traumatic event happens leading up to Morgan and Jonah’s relationship, but the movie also has flashbacks in between their relationship when they were in high school. In these scenes, Clara's dad, Chris, and her aunt, Jenny, her mom's sister, appear, showing their friendships from the past. . This was their high school friend group where Chris and Morgan were dating, and then Jenny and Jonah were dating at the time too.
Throughout this whole movie, the acting was phenomenal. Mason Thames and McKenna Grace did an amazing job at portraying the high school romance and senior year dilemmas as well, since stuff about college was included and part of their plot.

In addition, Allison Williams did a really good job at playing the part of Clara’s mother and showing all of the ups and downs of their relationship. Any young mom or mother, or in general, could relate to her and her thought process of what she wants for Clara and how she wants to protect her.
Although some critics say that the movie was good, but not well structured, I do not totally disagree. I would say that this movie could use a little bit of better structuring, but it was still really good all around. There were times when I was confused or didn't know what was going on, but it came together pretty well.
In all, I would rate this movie a 9/10 overall and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good romantic movie that also has a lot of emotion. Go see it in theaters now!
