Ella Clark is a junior at Aurora High School, an active participant in tennis, and a member of the drama club.
Throughout her high school career, Clark has participated in many of the plays and musicals put on by the drama club. Clark states, “Currently, I am rehearsing for the spring musical, The Addams Family, playing the role of the ballerina ancestor.” During her freshman year, she was part of the ensemble for Bye Bye Birdie. Earlier this year, she played the role of Gwendolyn in The Odd Couple.
“I like being someone else and acting in character for the role I am given. I also like to put my own spin on my character to add to the role,” Clark explains when asked about why she likes to participate in both plays and musicals. Having the ability to adapt to different characters shows a great set of skills.
“I found my love for acting and singing, and I wanted to do something that allowed me to do that,” she states, explaining why she decided to audition for plays and musicals at the high school level.
Clark has been a part of the tennis team since her freshman year. “I like pushing myself regardless of my lack of energy as I continue throughout the game. I love the feeling of winning after playing for a long time.” She explains a satisfying feeling, having your hard work pay off in the end. One of her favorite memories so far from playing tennis is winning a singles match after playing for two and a half hours, which goes along with having hard work pay off in the end.
She explains how she likes to play singles rather than doubles: “When I’m not playing my best, I feel like I’m letting my partner and the team down. If I’m going to lose I would rather lose on my own in a singles match.” She wants to be the best she can be and not let her team down. This shows that she is a great team player and wants to do what she can to help the team succeed.
When asked about her favorite memory from high school so far, she exclaims, “It’s always been spirit week and the homecoming dances.” This is a special part of high school that I’m sure many look forward to each year.
“I’m looking forward to football games and senior nights for sports,” Clark states when questioned about her senior year. Attending football games as a senior is something special to look forward to, as well as senior nights.
All in all, Ella Clark is a well-rounded individual, and it’s exciting to see what plays and musicals she will participate in next year for her last year at the high school.
