Girl Scout Cookies are special treats that are only available from January through March. The 2025 Girl Scout Cookie season has just recently come to an end on March 30th. Many look forward to purchasing from a Girl Scout directly or finding a booth where the cookies are being sold locally. The 2025 cookie flavors consist of the iconic Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Do-si-dos, and Samoas. Other cookies that aren’t as popular that are included in the lineup are Adventurefuls, S’mores, Lemon-ups, and Toast-Yay. This year marks the final year before both the S’mores and Toast-Yay cookies are going to be retired.
My personal favorites are Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, and Trefoils. If you’re unfamiliar with any of these cookies, I’ll give a short description for each.
Tagalongs include a crispy peanut butter cookie covered in a layer of chocolate. This cookie is very similar to the flavor of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. This cookie is my favorite Girl Scout Cookie, and I look forward to getting it each year. I love flavors that combine peanut butter and chocolate, and this one tastes so unique to me.
Do-si-dos are another peanut butter cookie that is more of a cookie sandwich. The cookies are peanut butter oatmeal with a peanut butter filling in the middle. Do-si-dos are the perfect cookies for peanut butter lovers. Do-si-dos were always my go-to Girl Scout Cookie when I was younger, making these nostalgic for me when I have them. I wasn’t able to get them this year, but I’ll definitely make an effort to get them next season.
Lemon-ups are a cookie that I’ve heard many people aren’t a fan of. They offer two different kinds of lemon-flavored cookies. The Lemon-ups and Lemonades. They both seem very similar to me; the only difference being that lemonades are more of a shortbread-flavored cookie. I didn’t get a box of lemon-ups this year because they weren’t as good as the other cookies, but I tried them last year. I thought that they weren’t horrible, but they weren’t the best either. An interesting thing about them is that on each of the cookies, they include a motivating message, which I think is a really cute idea for younger kids. However, they aren’t cookies that I would get again.
My last favorite, Trefoils, is a very plain cookie but has a great flavor. These are a very basic shortbread cookie; however, in my opinion, they’re the best kind of shortbread cookie. Once again, I didn’t get these this year, but I’m looking forward to them next year.
I haven’t tried the next few cookies, but they are loved by many.
Thin Mints are a very popular edition to the Girl Scout Cookie lineup. They can be compared to mint chocolate chip ice cream. They combine the flavors of mint and chocolate with a chocolate cookie in the center, coved in a chocolatey, minty coating. I would be surprised if anybody weren’t familiar with these because these are many people’s favorite cookies.
Samoas are also another popular edition to the lineup. These include other unique flavors, including caramel, coconut, and chocolate drizzle. I’ve never heard of this combination of flavors in any other cookie. This is another cookie that I haven’t tried, but now that I've heard more about it, I would be open to trying it next season.
All in all, I love Girl Scout Cookies and look forward to them each year. I’m open to trying more of the flavors that I haven’t tried before and look forward to the next cookie season. Buying these cookies is a great way to contribute to young girls’ leadership, courage, and confidence through the Girl Scout Organization.
