Senior Patrick (PJ) Traci will majoring in IT or accounting this fall at Kent State University, no matter what he will choose both require technical skill above that of most people. When asked why he wanted to possibly pursue these careers at this school, PJ stated, “Grew up in Aurora so I was always near Kent, really liked the campus and knew that it was a good school for my major”. Missing those who you’ve grown up with is natural when it comes to graduation, PJ’s fears align with countless of fellow highschool students, “ I'm excited but nervous to be alone for the first time. I’ll miss being able to see everyone I grew up with everyday but I think it's time to move on”. Well I can’t find any fault in that logic, as that is how many of us feel. Excited for the future yet the fear of leaving what we know behind.
Over the long and windy road of the past four years, we have all seen, done and experienced more than we could possibly imagine. Yet despite all of that, there will always be something that stand out, that “ace in the hole” one might say, in the case of PJ though it was not an easy question to answer though he came to this conclusion, “First day of my sophomore year was very exciting since I was online my entire freshman year, being back and seeing everyone for the first time in forever was awesome”. Among the countless memories that line these halls, there are dozens of rooms as well, in each of those rooms is a teacher, beloved or not, they have all had an impact on us.
Among these teachers, for every student, there is one that I can say will full confidence we will never forget, when asked the question of which teacher had the most impact on you PJ answered confidently, “Easily Mr. Kukarola, I had to drop APUSH my sophomore year and I met him the same day I had switched. As soon as I switched I knew he would become my favorite teacher. He really cared when I switched that I would be in a comfortable position, and I was. When it was time to pick my junior classes he recommended me for APHG and I had him again as a teacher and it was even better. I went from flunking my first AP to getting an A in my second one. He was there whenever I needed help and motivated me to do good in school”. Well in my unlicensed opinion I can say with a degree of confidence that Mr.Kukarola made PJ’s highschool experience far better than it would have been without him.
The question no-one knows the answer to, “where do you see yourself in ten years?”, well PJ answered rather bluntly, “Hopefully working as either an accountant or in IT”. Well next year we will know what path he chooses, but no matter what he does, I have full faith in his abilities. The final parting words to the school, a final chance to say what we really thought of our time in this school, while most typically say some positive things or inspirational statements, PJ did not, “Took long enough”, well at least one cannot fault his honesty. To end off on a final memorable note, the famous senior quote, what all seniors looks forward to, and what the staff loathes, luckily for the staff this year there is no need to fret with PJ’s quote, “You will never influence the world by trying to be like it”-Travis Scott.
