Maeryn Eichenauer is one of the freshmen at AHS and is on the lacrosse team.
Maeryn shared some of her favorite things to do outside of school and shared, “I play lacrosse and I enjoy hanging out with my friends and being outside.” Lacrosse was a newly added sport at Aurora this year and is a program that is continuing to grow and get better.
Doing lacrosse is so important to her because it has made her a lot of new friends and has been a great experience. She stated, “Hanging out with my friends is important to me because I care about them and we have a lot of fun together.”
Maeryn got into lacrosse when she was still in middle school, when the program was just starting out, and she has stuck with it! She added, “I first started lacrosse with my friend Ella when we wanted to try a new sport, and we continued playing because we had a lot of fun together.” Maeryn and her friend Ella doing it together made it a lot more fun to continue to do.
Some of the best memories Maeryn made from lacrosse were all with the team and her friends, she said, “My favorite memories from lacrosse are the bus rides to away games, my 8th grade season with my best friend Ella, and making new friends on the team.” Even though both Ella and Maeryn had never played before they made the best of it and had a great time.
A goal Maeryn has going forward is treating everyone around her the best she can, “One goal I have made for myself is to keep improving how I treat others going forward. I plan to achieve this by being mindful of how my actions affect others.” This goal helps herself grow as a person and makes the people around her feel good as well.
Someone that she looks up to the most is the person she has grown up with her whole life. She shared, “The person I look up to most in my life is my sister.” Maeryn's sister Autumn is a junior at Aurora and is only 2 years older than her. Even though they have their fair share of fights they are alway there for eachother and get along very well the rest of the time.
As a freshman you do not get that many choices of your schedule as you have to do a lot of required classes. One of the hardest classes for many freshmen is one Maeryn shares about, “The most challenging class I'm taking this year in school is Biology, it is very difficult and requires a lot of studying.” Even though it is not honors, this class is still very hard and takes a lot of time to study for.
A way Maeryn can get all of the work and studying done though, is by making sure she balances her schedule. She states, “I balance my school work with my extracurricular activities by scheduling times to get all my work done and staying on task.” By doing this she can get all of her work done and still have fun at all of her after school activities.
Although the lacrosse season is over, next spring you will be able to go catch Maeryn on the fields during all of her practices and games!
