Soham Shah is a sophomore here at Aurora. He is involved in hard academic classes, sports, and robotics!
Soham is fairly new to the sport of tennis and only started playing a few years ago. He stated, “I started playing tennis about 3 years ago.” He liked it enough to continue to play on the high school team. He added, “I enjoy tennis because it is a really fun sport and it keeps me active.”
Some of Soham’s favorite memories of playing tennis were even the more simple things. He included, “Some of my favorite memories were just playing matches with my friends.” No matter a win, or a loss, he was still happy with the result because he was doing what he enjoyed with people he enjoyed being around.
Since he has really enjoyed the last two years of the sport, Soham has made a goal for himself. He states, “One of the goals I have made for myself is to make it to varsity tennis next year.” Which hard work and practice he is capable of achieving!
Along with tennis, at school Soham has involved himself in many hard classes, taking up most of his schedule. He shares, “This year I am taking AP Economics, AP Computer Science, Honors Math and Honors Chemistry.” All of which are difficult classes, and hard to strive in, but Soham puts in a lot of hard work and strives in them.
With hard classes, comes a heavy workload, with not a lot of time. Soham shares, “I like to do homework whenever I can and I usually take my homework to robotics.” So even when he can not do his homework right away, he tries to do it all elsewhere.
Soham has found a hobby for himself that he really enjoys. “I also enjoy investing,” he shares, after asking why he added, “I enjoy investing because it makes me read about the market and keeps me updated with what is going on in the world.”
Something not many people know about Soham is that he is actually involved with a robotics team, and is very good at it. He states, “I am on FRC team 695(Bison Robotics), which is a team sponsored by Beachwood schools.” He explained, “I am not really part of many school clubs outside of tennis because robotics takes up most of my time.” Within the robotics team, Soham is part of some really cool things, “I am a part of the fabrication team which is hands-on with the robot.” Not everyone gets to say that!
Although robotics is a very time-consuming part of his life, Soham enjoys it a lot. He says, “I enjoy it because it is a fun thing to do and you get to travel to competitions with friends. I have made a lot of friends through robotics, especially since I have been doing it since 1st grade.” Since Soham has been so involved in robotics, he shares his plans for the future. “Since I want to be an engineer, this helps me get experience and it's really fun to do.” So robotics is even helping him achieve his goals for the future!
Soham’s commitment to robotics, diligence in school, and hard work in sports all show how he has earned and deserves what he has.
