Mrs. Antol teaches business and yearbook classes here at AHS. This year marks her 19th year of teaching. Throughout her career, she taught many different subjects to kindergarteners and high school seniors.
Bowling Green State University was where Mrs. Antol furthered her education after high school. She got a bachelor of science in Business Administration with a focus in Marketing and a Master of Education with a focus in Business and Marketing education. However, she didn’t choose to major in education as an undergraduate. “I was only about a month away from graduating with a business degree and I was interning with a non-profit where my job was to educate groups of employees about the benefits of giving,” she states as to when she realized she would rather pursue a career in teaching.
Mrs. Antol attended Stow-Munroe Falls High School. When asked about her favorite subject when she was in high school, she explained, “I liked Social Studies. If I had chosen to major in education right away, I would've been a Social Studies teacher.” However, it sounds like she chose the right path because of how much she enjoys her job.
Mrs. Antol elaborated more on her high school experiences: “I played field hockey, worked at Dairy Queen, and loved to drive around listening to DMB with my BFF, Amy!” It sounds like she had some very fun-filled high school years.
When asked about her favorite part about teaching at Aurora, Mrs. Antol exclaims, “Overall, Aurora kids are well-behaved and eager to learn!” This definitely makes for a great and enjoyable teaching experience.
One of Mrs. Antol’s all-time favorite memories involving teaching at Aurora involves, “‘Flaunt Your Knowledge Friday’ discussions with my Sports & Entertainment Marketing classes. I love hearing about what the students are excited about and how it relates to what we've been learning in class!” This seems like it would be a rewarding feeling, knowing that your students are using the knowledge they learned and relating it to their personal lives.
Mrs. Antol and one of her prior yearbook classes
Mrs. Antol teaches many different classes at AHS, one of them being the Yearbook class. She’s very passionate about teaching this class, stating, “We get to put all our skills and ideas together to create this colorful, tangible keepsake that is like a big love letter to our school year at AHS!” Looking back at yearbooks when you’re older is a great way to relive all of one’s favorite high school memories. Mrs. Antol makes a great effort to make the yearbook look awesome and contribute to many different individuals.
“Anyone who's ever taken one of my classes knows I'm all about Daily Slides and having tons of easy-to-find resources in Google Classroom,” Mrs. Antol explains, stating one of her best teaching qualities is organization. I can agree with this, as a student who’s taken her personal finance class she’s definitely one of the best-organized teachers I’ve had.
Mrs. Antol enjoys watching her kids and their teammates play sports outside the classroom. “I also love to go on family hikes and play with my new puppy,” she states. She finds great ways to keep herself entertained, when not busy with work for her classes.
One thing students may not know about Mrs. Antol, is that she can make excellent homemade biscuits! She revealed, “When life's not super busy, I'd much rather cook from scratch than from a box.” This is a great quality to have, especially when you need a home-cooked meal.
Lastly, Mrs. Antol states that her husband has had the greatest impact on her: “He has supported me through it all for the past 20 years and we've grown a lot together. He often helps me see different perspectives and think about things in different ways.” She explains how she wouldn’t be who she is without him.
Overall, Mrs. Antol is a teacher who is devoted to hard work, cares for her students, and is a great addition to the AHS Staff.
