Honors Brit. Lit. for Sept. 14-18

Here is an overview of the coming week:

We will continue our reading and discussion of literature from the Middle Ages this week. Here is an approximate schedule of what we will do and when:

Monday:

    • Introduce unit 6 vocabulary words.

    • Final three groups will present Middle Ages presentations

    • Brief in-class writing assignment over "The Wife of Bath's Tale" and "The Pardoner's Tale" from The Canterbury Tales.

    • Complete work on Canterbury Pilgrims from General Prologue

    • Assign 1066 reading and viewing of Bayeux Tapestry--due Thursday.

Tuesday:

    • Check and go over Choosing the Right Word.

    • Discuss assorted pilgrims and two tales we read from Canterbury Tales

    • Assign 31st pilgrim or Ballad assignment--Bring drafts on Tuesday after break.

Wednesday:

    • Check and go over Synonyms and Antonyms

    • Finish Canterbury Tales discussion if needed.

    • Introduce elements of medieval ballads.

    • Read and discuss ballads.

Thursday:

    • Check and go over Completing the Sentence

    • Vocabulary Kahoot!

    • Discuss 1066 and Bayeux Tapestry

    • How English changed after 1066--Algeo article and questions.

Friday:

    • Unit 6 vocabulary quiz

    • Arthurian satire and what makes it funny

Vocabulary: We will follow our normal routine this week, introducing words new vocabulary on Monday and quizzing over the words on Friday. Please complete nightly homework per our usual schedule:

Monday--Choosing the Right Word (aka Circly Word)

Tuesday--Synonyms and Antonyms

Wednesday--Completing the Sentence

Thursday--Study for Friday's Quiz
